Hope all goes well Marv. Best of luck.

All the talk over bit replacements had me thinking about the Six Million Dollar Man. We must be getting closer to that reality now. And it would be free on the NHS smiley - somersault

Funnily enough, in re 6 Million Dollar Man, a neighbor recently joked that what I needed was new feet, but what I really need is a new spinal cord, and I don't think you can get donors for that.

The new feet joke arose because we had been watching the youtube video about Oscar, the cat whose hind legs had to be amputated, and who is now back at home pottering around happily on revolutionary prosthetics.

I would love to have a new bed. The one I have now is too soft. Oh, and I need a new floor to go under it, since everything slopes downhill from right to left by a few degrees. And after that I need politer cats who won't jump on my stomach at 6 am. I am yawning as I type.

So Landlady had some poplars in front of her house cut down a couple of weeks ago, and apparently the roots of one of the trees moved and bodged our mutual water main, causing a leak. And when a fellow came to dig out the main and look at the damage, he discovered the hard way that there was a very old phone line running hard by the main; he received a rather nasty shock from the water puddling around the wire.

And so it was that I lost both water and phone service, since the wire ran to my house. All since fixed and restored.

I'm so sorry to hear of the medical emergencies and bad news for lml's nephew and niece. Z is being utterly heroic around the salon!

Shall we have a new thread tomorrow? I think I can manage it.

Bat houses are great! After they drove the bats out of the Tunstall Store, bathouses were put up and were colonized the very next day. You could walk right up to them and hear a faint twittering and rustling... and watch the guano fall out. smiley - silly

Old phone line, huh? That's a little scary - no telling what else is underneath there.

I love the AM laboratory link! I'm still playing with it.

Kelli, what a situation, buggar. It does make you realise that there are worse things that could be happening.

Did I mention that hubby fell from the top to the bottom of stairs on Saturday? He scrawped his back, legs and arms (trying to grab the banisters) He was almost getting back to himself. MS is a swine. Thankfully I've found the Arnica gel.

Bea, your daughter is ace! What a smiley - star

When I was digging the back of my garden a couple of years ago we found an old greenhouse, broken up and buried in the garden along with a broken Belfast sink - odd what people think they can get away with.

That sort of fall terrifies me Mags. Really frightening. Your poor husband.

Yay for Bea's daughter and the found phone!

Yay for trains to and from Moscow!

I'm about to say something really dumb, but it always amazes me how much of a difference medicine can make. You really can go from death's door to hale and hearty in such a short time. I guess it depends on *which* particular door you're knocking on, but even so.

smiley - hug and smiley - goodluck to all who need them, there seems to be a lot of difficult times amongst the salonistas at the moment.

I had a disturbing visit to my mum's care home today when one of the other residents became aggressive and threw a cup of hot tea at a care worker, snarling at all around her. Normally this particular lady is cheerful, loves music and dances all the time but not today. I just can't imagine how confusing life must be for these ladies as their dementia eats away at their sense of the everyday flow of life.

There's nothing like inviting a few friends up for a weekend to set the 'tidying-up' instinct in motion. I'm feeling all virtuous that piles of stuff that have been annoying me for years are now stacked on top of the wardrobe. I didn't even need to chuck things in the attic after putting it off for all these years.

Or am I just avoiding writing my assignment about to what extent Wagner stuck to his published theories in writing "Tristan und Isolde"...

It's amazing what happens when you set out to do little in a day. The one thing that stresses me out is a list of jobs to do. My head tries to figure out all at once and, like a multi-tasking male, fails immediately.
So with no plan, we ended up sourcing a log basket for our stove, finding the right tiles set in to the fireplace surround and varnishing the wood for the doorway between kitchen and lounge. And build a shelf for the tomcat, rebuild the confuser desk, make parsnip soup, jetwash the remainder of the driveway, clean the front windows and fix the kids VHS player.
Now, if you had given me that list last night I would have gone smiley - boing

One day, I'm going to super-impose all of my to-do lists, one over another, into a gigantic work of art, and art of work, or at least the art of the anticipation of living long enough to accomplish all that work.
