Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky. Posted Jul 7, 2010
Raining today, the garden needs it and hubby can feel better today (he hates it when it's too warm - or rather his body does - it's an MS thing)
Yay for problem free MOTs.

Major surprise yesterday as an old college friend appeared unannounced in my back garden while I was blissfully sanding away on a piece of oak flooring. Boy did I jump. So he and his partner stopped for the night and joined in with some of our decorating. Lots of reminiscing and plenty of Scotch. Just fab.
Sunshine and strong winds today. Some woodwork then to finish the living room painting.
Completely unimpressed with the new iPhone software. It's doing some odd things to my 3GS. Borked programming. I hate it

I've not had any problems with the new iPhone software.

Lentilla, I'll make Farmers one of my calls. Thanks.
HN, those are all great suggestions. I've asked the BCs to build me some bat houses several times. They always say they will but never do. I think I'll see if I can find any ready made. I know we have bats in the area. I see them quite often. They might s well live at my house.
We have a wonderful farmer's market in WC. We win state-wide awards for it all the time. I'm wanting to team up with them for a series of programs and exhibits next year on sustainability.
The squash plants I lost were taken by borers. They are a particular nuisance in this area. I hoped that by having the plants in earth Boxes, the borers wouldn't get to them. Now I know they will and will need to take preventative measures. One tip I've red is to take old nylon stockings and wrap around the stems. It's worth a try. I'm getting ready to replant.

Martins are supposed to be bug eating machines. But the people I know who have put up those martin houses on the long poles haven't attracted any birds. Does anyone here have a martin house, and how did you get the birds to nest in it?

Not much help there, I'm afraid. We've had blackbirds nesting in the carport - but that was more of a DIY project they did...
Flying home day today About ready for that, I must say!

The place we stay at in Portugal has a resident family of House Martins every year. They build a nest, if the owner has removed it during Winter, just by the drying and sunning area. It's within easy reach of humans but always seems to be productive. You sometimes see a head peeping out and if you get too close they take off and give a stunning display of aerodynamics over the pool.
Currently watching the Tour De France as the Manx Missile, Mark Cavendish, is trying hard to win some sprint stages. We know him personally, nice guy.

Today is my last day at the old job. Then I go to Las Vegas for 4 days for a bachelor party, then I start the new gig on Monday.

Bea, it's a moment where my character sees the woman he randomly falls in love with (it's that sort of show) for the first time. Everyone freezes, and in my mind, I serenade her, accompanied by, *ahem* a few subtle thrusting movements...

It definitely comes under the heading of "Things David will do on stage that he'd never even consider in any other context".

I seem to remember being told that spraying a mixture of Listerine and water on everything kills bugs, Hyp. I can imagine. Listerine is seriously, horribly .

I have bats in my attic. None in my belfrey, as far as I know.
David, I'd love to see that
Stripey beetroot? We bought seeds for them at Hampton Court Flower Show today.
Safe trip home, Santra. I hope you manage to unfold yourself out of your plane seat when you get back to Sweden.
I'm sure there was more I was going to say . . . but my brain's mince in this heat.
