So while I am used to being a one man IT God something new happened to me today. Never before in my storied career (horror stories are still stories) has the like occurred.

I stepped away from my desk to work on something (more than likely trivial). When I returned to my desk there was a bottle of 12 year Glenfiddich sitting on my desk. No note, no one has claimed responsibility, nothing. It's just sitting there looking happy to see me. I rather suspect that I know who left it there, but really I was not prepared.

I put the word out that I am susceptible to bribery quite a while ago, and that the form of the bribe should be single malt. It appears that someone took my jest to heart.

Marv, we've always thought great things of you. Maybe someone was genuinely grateful of your help. Nice thought, though, either way.

Lil, that's very worrying. smiley - hug How on earth could any judge say you shouldn't get disability? The entire system is screwy.

I'm pretty sure that you should think Grate (or alternatively grating) things about me. I was just surprised that someone cared enough to bring a bottle in for me.

Do you want a scribe for this convo, Lil?

If I did enough of a good job, I will volunteer again - unless there are any other comers...

What a lovely tent! I take it it's one of those that look snug and cosy from the outside, and somehow fit dozens of people--people, oh for instance, like all of us--inside.

GT, you don't have to unsub; eventually it will just drop off your list.

Well, I certainly missed the boat on the clean cups! Ah well. I was at work...I have an excuse.

So, Courtesy is engaged. Wedding's next July. Yeah.

I just got back from a long weekend trip. I caught up with a LOT of relatives (and met some new ones) as we went to my sister's 50th Bday party and my father-in-law's wedding! The wedding was lovely and everyone was on their best behavior (somewhat surprising, as his two daughters had considered skipping it...)

Marv, congrats on the single-malt! It just goes to show that kidding around can pay off. Actually, when someone is planning a gift it is very helpful if the giftee has hinted what they like, even if not intentionally.

Speaking of gifts: Dr Z, sorry I missed your Bday, hope it was wonderful.

Lil, that is really good news that the "not-sheriff" associates are available for such not-quite-sheriff things like that: since you weren't disturbing the peace or discharging a firearm or such disorderly conduct during your fall smiley - smiley. It must be a releif to know that there are able-bodied persons "standing by" to help.

It really is a relief, you're right. As long as I have a phone with me, I'm safe.

As for catching up with a lot of relatives, you have even MORE relatives to be caught up with, I'll wager. Unending homework, relatives.

MR, who is the lucky Mrs. Courtesy-to-be? Do you know her?

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

How horrible to be stuck there Lil, but great there is someone you can call on to help out.

Nice day yesterday followed by another awful night. I really don't know what to do with t'Other any more. I know people laugh and tease about parental lack of sleep but 8 months on I'm getting the same amount of rest as if I had a newborn. He was up 12.30-1am, 2.30-3.15 then 4.15 until just before t'Boy got up at 6.15. I feel f------ dreadful. Nobody tells you parenthood is mostly awful grinding drudgery with occasional flashes of joy to stop you utterly hating the whole thing.

On the plus side, HR have screwed up my annual leave in my favour (I gave them 3 chances to correct it, even spelling out how many days I think I have) so I start getting paid again in October but don't have to be in the office until January rather than december. At least I stand a chance he'll be sleeping better by then. smiley - yawn

What a dreadful ban collie day, rain, rain, rain. smiley - biker racing cancelled, chaos at the airport because the visabilty caused cancelled flights and lots of damp, miserable campers over for the racing.

Oh Kelli, that's dreadful. smiley - hug This is going to sound nasty, but but do you have to get up and go to him? What does t'Other need? Is he just wanting your attention? Although I guess you don't have to get up in order to be disturbed... smiley - erm

Marv, that's wonderful to be appreciated.

Lil, I'm glad you're okay.

My bank holiday was spent wallpapering. A dull task to you, perhaps, but exciting for me because I've never done any before. This might mean that I'm a Grown Up. I haven't decided yet. It looks lovely though; warm and cosy in red.

What else was I going to say? *stands infront of the fire-place, revolving on the spot in the vague hope that something or other will occur to her*.

Oh yes, pets! I see we have a recrudescence of the Atelier pets going on. I'd love to bring Roget the Thesaurus back here for a visit, but, honestly, he's the size of a large cart-horse NOT counting his spine-ridges, horns, and head frill. He usually hangs out in the paddock out by the green-houses. He's very gentle - I've trained him not to snatch words, but to sit up and beg for them instead. I have a feeling his spine-ridges are not usual for a thesaurus, but he ate rather a lot of fantasy literature at one point and was rather taken with the dragons of Pern. Umm. I'm a bad owner. I should have made sure he was eating a more balanced diet, but, you know, TEENAGERS.
