Hyp, your swimming dream suggested to me that you're actually comfortable with deep emotions, and I was impressed that, when you were at the pool with the dangerous unknown in it, you turned to face it, even if you awoke before you could identify it.

I've wondered if having the boat behind me so I could see it over my shoulder was significant. If it was my safe haven. Then when the boat couldn't continue down the river, it was symbolic of me having to strike out on my own for wherever the river was leading me.

I make rice pudding with spare milk, but you need pudding rice to do it of course.

Sometimes, I think it would be easier if perhaps I could run errands in my dreams, and then, when I wake up, the errands would be done. Imagine if you dreamed of doing laundry, and it was just...done.

I like that one immensely, MR! Only, in my case it would involve ordering my drug refills, and wake up to them on my bedside table...
I dream a lot, lately not remembering many of them. I think it might have to do with all the meds I take, since blood pressure meds in particular will elicit "unusual dreams." I tend to have a lot of those "inappropriate public behaviour" types -- like forgetting to put on a shirt before leaving the house, etc. Wonder what that means?

I dream more in emotion than in visuals or other senses. They rarely have much resembling actual sequences of events like yours all seem to. I just seem to sit around feeling something. Although the location is often a bit odd.
Falling in love dreams are always nice. Sometimes it's even with B.
I don't get nightmares. Or rather, I do have fear dreams, but I tend to quite enjoy them. Like some people like roller coasters or horror films.
I do sometimes have vaugely uncomfortable dreams about teaching sometimes. Usually it involves not being properly prepared for a lesson. Once it was having to take the Star into class because I couldn't find childcare. Surprisingly, they tend to occur when I am overworked, or, lately, underworked.

I have found that I dream troublsome dreams when I lay on my back , if lay on my side = sweet dreams .

Embarrassing disclosure: this one time, YES JUST ONCE, I dreamt I was peeing in my toilet, and when I woke up a a few seconds later...I was. In bed. My warm, wet bed.
TMI, I know.

That happened to me once when I was working in Corfu, FG. Stressful time in my life, that was, at first. And I was incredibly embarrassed.
As for waking up to find your laundry done after you dreamed doing it... have you tried Ambien? I hear that somnambulism, particularly binge eating, can be a side effect.
More seriously, sounds like some of us have achieved lucid dreaming -- dreams in which you, the conscious self, can exert some control over events within the dream.

The first night I moved into my new house, I went to pee in my dresser drawer. Apparently I opened the drawer, put my butt down and peed, all over my clean underwear!
I wouldn't mind, but the hall door was in the same place as my old one!!!

Oh, thank goodness. I thought I'd chased everyone out with that confession. Glad to know others have been there, done that.
I take Ambien. Well, the generic version. No reports of my sleepwalking from others who've shared my space--or the same apartment, ask MR--just the sleep of the dead. Or a log. A log with pajamas.

Rumour had it that I did a fair bit of sleep-walking in my earliest teens. Created some rather improbable mechanical and sheet-metal contraptions with the 'leavings' in my father's work shop.

Since none of them actually accomplished anything, and probably half were somewhat dangerous ... Ragged edges and such ... I think my 'artisitic expressions' went back into the scrap bins.

I've had several dreams when I needed to pee, but every time I sat down the toilet turned into my bed.

My tiolet dreams were always very helpful: I'd dream of almost finding a toilet, but something would intervene such as a line at the Ladies or it would turn into a chair, and then I'd wake up in time!
Titania, after we saw Stepford Wives (1975) my then boyfriend-now Mr V used to freak me out by his dead-faced impersonation of them: "Would-you-like-a-cup-of-coffee?-I-thought-you-were-my-friend..."
RV50, I remember hearing about a guy using "extreme sleepwalking" as a defense in his murder trial. Apparently he had hacked up the old couple on the next farm or something...
Mrs Zen, I love the freaky-public-toilet link! There is a problem with one-way mirrors though (as a friend-of-friend found out): when you have a bright light on the wrong side. The f-o-f had a one way mirror wall installed in their ground floor masterbath, faced on their backyard garden, enjoyed the window onto their garden with the "privacy" of the one-way mirror, until their neighbor told them that *ahem* when the bright light was on inside the mirror ceased being reflective!
Lil, I hope your neck/shoulder has improved (again)?
