dang, that's a lot of footprints! smiley - winkeye

I am feeling incredibly like eating very bad junkfood all day and napping. I really shouldn't leave a place at midnight and then go to another party. It's just not good for me.

Hypatia, what are you edging your raised beds with? My mum used to always use railroad ties. Of course, the downside of those is that in the heat, they weep tar, which can be messy on your clothes unless you have specific gardening clothes.

*wonders if the cattle prod is the cause of his hand swelling up*

Now have a swollen hand around where I cut myself last week, think I'll hit the docs tomorrow. It was fine till Friday then it started swelling up and now sore to touch. Bummer.

Had a good shopping spree yesterday, holiday clothes in East and wedding outfit in Sahara. The main task for the week is to find shoes to go with it.

Mrs Zen

I could be bought by an open-ended account in East, and another in Monsoon, and a third in a local shop which stores a lot of Adini.

It is good to know one's price... smiley - smiley

Z had a good party last night - VIP was there, (some of you may know her from elsewhere on the site), and so was A, and four or five of Z's fellow-medics. A fun party with themed food and - which is even more impressive - we've already cleared up!

Off to mine later, but first a kip after all that tidying!

Ben
PS - no Dr Who spoilers please... we haven't seen the episode yet! smiley - lighthouse

MR, I'm using concrete blocks. I'm making the beds two blocks high so I can sit on them and weed and pick beans, etc. I got a real bargain on the blocks - a quarter each. So didn't feel like I could refuse. But they're ugly.

I'm using the lasagna gardening method of filling up the beds. Layers and layers of mulch. No more digging for me. I put cardboard down then set the blocks around the parameter. Added straw to the height of the first row of blocks, then put in alternating layers of compost and dried manure, planted my plants and mulched them with more straw. smiley - smiley

I have tomatoes and peppers in the one that is finished. They are growing like crazy. But, I'll need a ladder to pick the tomatoes. smiley - yikes So, I should make a couple of beds one block high for them - so I can alternate them from bed to bed. You need to do that with tomatoes anyway.

I am desperately trying to make my yard and garden less labor intensive. I have too much for one person to take care of. smiley - erm

Well that was a rather fun party!

And my flat is clean: which is also very cool..

I'm not used to my flat being clean. Very odd.

Ben and I have just been to the Cheltenham Science Fair, which was all rather splendid fun.

There were lots of cool things, including a machine that measured your brainwaves, and told you how relaxed you were. There were two of these linked up, and linked to a ball that moved a long: the most relaxed person won..

*dose victory dance*..

Hypatia, you could always tile them, or paint them funky colors, maybe.

Could you set ivy to grow along the blocks? That would be smiley - cool

Or wouldn't it work too close to the ground?

Or pland droopy plants along the edges, perhaps..

Or clart them with natural yoghurt and watch the lichens, algae and mosses take over?

What a fantastic idea!

Does anyone know anything about Cacti? I have just brought one, and need to learn how to look after it.

ooooh, Teutcher's got an excellent idea there. Although in Missouri, I don't know what you'd get, moss/lichen wise...
