Mol, sounds like your life is busy!
Lil, you, of all people, are the soul of politeness. Why do you think I spend all of my time here in the Atelier?

Hi Jules-welcome properly to the Salon. I've just been playing pool-Maths beat Humanities, but it took AAAAAAAAGES to pot the black.
There was a great thunderstorm about 2AM in Leamington Spa/Coventry last night. With the lights turned off it looked fantastic!
If I've said any of the following before, my appologies:
I did my postal vote form last week, so it should be with the acting returning officer.
The "BF" and I have decided to make the temporary split more official-telling people. Yesterday evening wasn't too bad (apart from drinking so much I really wanted to hug him), but spending a whole afternoon in the same room with nothing to do is not a good idea-it makes me feel really awful. Though he was playing the piano this afternoon-good sign aka he wasn't shaking too much.
Kat I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

Lil, I am astonished that anyone could think of you as other than polite and considerate.
*waves to Mol*
I'm tired. I have spent most of the day planting.

Early bedtime. For the foreseeable future, I will have teleconference calls on Mondays at 7 am.
And it's still extremely cool, with nights getting downright cold. I still have the extra blanket on my bed.

Technology is pretty amazing. I remember how excited my grandmother was about television. And I still think one of the neatest tools is the fax machine.
I remember one conference call a few years ago that several local libraries had with the Gates Foundation. We met in Carthage and I took my office phone because at the time I was the only one of us with a speaker phone. Anyway, one group down in the bootheel kept making these off the cuff, insulting remarks. They didn't realize we could all hear every word they said. They thought they were on mute. And absolutely no one, across the entire state system, said a word until it was all over with and they had royally screwed themselves.
MR, what is D eating? And I'm glad it's working.

Any and everything, really. I've been making her shakes at night with a weight gain powder especially formulated for kids. Also, at school and her after school program, she's got bars to eat. High protein bars. There's one that you really think is a candy bar, it's that good.

Hi JulesK
for B4 - , too
Busy weekend. Was sold for 1.1 billion € on Friday (OK - the buyers got the rest of the company, too ). Could not go to the company summer party Friday night
Weekend trip with 9 and his class Sat-Sun. Good fun - but gee, 25 kids can make a lot of noise and racket Slept far too little - the adults on the trip talked way too long into the wee hours of Sunday morning over a little sip of
The kids were lovely and really no problems. One thing struck some of us, though. Several - bordering on numerous - times, when we gave out a straight-forward message for something to do or not to do (ie 'do NOT climb on to the roof of that shed'), it was not taken at value but merely as an opening for negotiations. Why? But we could... What if we.... But you cannot just say no....
While I do honestly and firmly believe it's fine to let your kids grow up with options and being involved and talked with rather than to - there are just times when it's "NO - because!" I do wonder how family life proceeds in some of the other families - there were two or three kids who were very instrumental in challenging us very many times...
Oh wel - back to w**k realities.

Got a bit of gardening done yesterday, it looks a little tidier. However after heavy overnight rain, I'm sure the grass has grown an inch.

Finally catching up with the backlog after a few days away from the pc.
Had a houseful of guests over the weekend - and it's far too quiet now that they've all gone but the weather seems reasonable and we'll probably wander up to the May Fair on the green later.
Welcome to JulesK

Affy - seeing your playlist reminded me of something I found on iTunes in the Celebrity Playlists section; they have lists for Arthur Dent, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Trillian, Marvin and Douglas Adams.
Good luck with the move, Solnushka - hope everything goes smoothly.
More good luck for Mol - with the application process for the job you didn't apply for. Is it one which interests you?
And yet more good luck for MR's D - she's a third of the way there!

Last night, I went to a 'question time' thing with the six local people standing for that thing on Thursday. It was very interesting. I obviously won't say anything more about it than that, but it was definitely interesting.
I also saw Goodbye Lenin, which was a wonderful film. It does you good to watch a film with subtitles from time to time. I think this can join Smiles of a Summer Night and Solaris as 'foreign-language films David really likes'. Must get around to watching the Danish films that Teuchter recommended to me some time ago.
