Hi, JulesK, and welcome to the Atelier!
*Takes a moment to wave to all the other lurkers out there. *
I had a meeting this morning, or I would have gone to see the movie then. So Mr M and #2 daughter and I are going to see it tomorrow morning instead. #1 daughter could not care less. I don't know what's wrong with that girl.

Bagpuss is here with his friend, C. We're hoping to see the film tomorrow.

My brother and I were going through all of the old 5.25 inch floppy disks we still have. I found one, from 1992, that has a lot of journal entries on it. All I have to say is, wow! And not necessarily in a good way. A lot of "depression" just as much "love". Kind of sickening actually.

I saw HHGTTG last night! I'd heard rumors that they'd ruined the movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Well....not thoroughly, I suppose. I would've changed some things, but they were tiny little things.
Interestingly enough, I was the only one in the theater who showed up on opening day wearing a bath robe and a digital watch, while carrying my towel.
I saw a few other towels, though.
Totally baffled the cinema staff. One said, "But how'd he know to wear that? The movie just came out today!" Anyway, I need to say a few things about it, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who's not seen it so: WARNING! I'm RUINING stuff down there! Oh, and sorry for not fitting this in, but I promised myself that I would post how much I enjoyed the movie before I read somewhere online that someone didn't like it for some reason (those arguments against liking things normally convince me, and if I'm to be convinced I want to go on record of at least having liked it beforehand).

SPOILER WARNING!
I was keeping my eye peeled for lots of stuff. I must say that hearing Journey Of The Sorcerer in that theater is the most majestic thing that I've heard for quite a while. And the opening song routine is the type of song that made me fall in love with musical theater anyway, so I loved that.
Seeing the Marvin from the old miniseries was great. I was the first in my family to catch it. I also thought that I recognized DNA's head as one of the things that the Heart Of Gold turned into, which seemed like a nice touch.
My biggest complaint, I think, is that the line "Mostly Harmless" didn't appear once, not one single time. Other than that, I was okay with this latest version of the story.
And I love how they pulled off Zaphod's heads. I was getting ready to be bugged by that for the whole movie, but then out of nowhere...BAM!
I liked it so much, that I ran into town to purchase the soundtrack. I'll play sample tracks on my radio show in about fifteen minutes to send a little extra cash towards the film.
Now then, off to read the previous posts and have my opinions forever changed (or not, if I'm lucky).

I pretty much agree with Affy's review of the flick. I saw it last night, was going to post something about it then but got sidetracked by the polight of a friend.

I still haven't decided if it was what I wanted/thought it would be or not.
Although there were some brilliant throwaway lines. Affy, it was his head.

I won't be able to see it until Monday. I will take a towel, although I expect to be one of only a handful at the local cinema. Can't afford to go all the way up to Albuquerque...

It will be either tomorrow night or Monday for me, as well. Thanks for the warning, Affy. I didn't read it.

No problem, Hyp. When you go to as many comic book discussions as I do, you get used to posting spoiler warnings.
I seem to be running out of science fiction songs to play during my two-hour tribute to HHGTTG on the radio. Fortunately, I've not yet played Weird Al's three big sci-fi movie songs (The Saga Begins (SW:Episode I), Ode To A Superhero (Spiderman), and Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park). He writes nice, long songs, so they should help.

I have not seen it yet, it will probably be a week before I do.

I am going to go shower and get ready for a party tonight. I am going to an after term party at a friend's house. With luck I will not get talked in to wearing a mumu.
This is a mumu party, much like the Toga party of college legend. Attendees are supposed to be in mumus, but I can't do that to myself.

Hope you don't wind up in a mumu Marv.
Hmmmm...."Mumu Marv"....if I was the sort to give mean and hurtful nicknames to people, I'd start using that one.
Well, show's over. If any of you are up on Dementia, tell me if you think that I managed to get a decent sampling of new and classic sci-fi stuff....

So Long & Thanks For All The Fish (Reprise)-h2g2 movie (I turned the volume down so I could sing along with this last one).
I played way too much Weird Al, in my opinion. I normally feel like I've used him to much if he has more than 2 songs per show, but here I gave him four (I almost gave five with "Slime Creatures From Outer Space"). I'm also wondering if anyone cared that I slipped a few fantasy songs into a sci-fi tribute.
Quite frankly, I'm surprised that I just happened to have this many sci-fi/fantasy songs lying around. PLUS, it looks like I played So Long & Thanks on the radio before Dr. Demento could. Take that, Demento! Bwahahaha!
Sorry for talking so much. I've just not had much online time lately.

I just noticed that I attributed "St. George And The Dragonet" to Leonard Nimoy when, in fact, it was Stan Freberg. Not that it really matters.

Affy, I think perhaps the Universe Song might have been the better Monty Python choice. It's more, well, space oriented.
