Hmm... it seems I missed a birthday... here's some for Ben!

I own six pairs of shoes.
Big sturdy boots which are my day-to-day pair.
Hi-tops for when it's warm and I'm not at work.
Posh dress shoes for when I need to be posh and dressy.
Black suede brothel creepers (which I wore at my wedding).
Black patent leather brothel creepers.
Stuart tartan brothel creepers.

This number will increase to eight as soon as I can find a place that does affordable historic boots and shoes that isn't based in the US (thus allowing me not to be crippled by import tax).

Smellfungus behaved - sort of. She was disturbed by the nonarrival of the plaque with a Q. We were all wishing her the arrival of the plague with a G. But, all in all, she did very well...for her...which is not the same as most folks very well.

Everyone likes the rock garden.

National Library Week began yesterday. that's why I scheduled the dedication for yesterday. We have events planned for every day this week except today. Since I'm taking my day off...to work in my yard...which I can't do because we had a storm overnight. But I'll have time to work on a Cranky Gardener before Shazz kills me.

It's a conspiracy I tell you! I can smell them, you know, conspircaies, and one is happening right now.

Glad to hear the dedication went well, Hyp. Our county library addition opened last week, as well.

Mr M and I pulled 8 overgrown and/or ugly bushes out of the front yard yesterday. We also trimmed back a few others and put down a layer of autumn red mulch. Looks pretty decent, I can't wait until the impatiens I ordered arrive. Which reminds me, I need to head over to the Greenhouses to get some advice.

I actually dont want to work out how many shoes I own!

Think thats is it in Cambridge but I suspect I have more in doncaster which i dont really wear anymore.In fact I can think of 2 for certain, no 3 because i have my bridesmaid shoes too.

Ok now im scared, I only started buying shoes a couple of years ago, before that I owned 3 pairs tops!

Ive got another chest infection which is no fun!

I have too many boots and shoes to list. My latest pair are pink mocassins with blingy bits . I need to increase my stock of flat shoes because I have discovered I am now too old to teach in heels - it wasn't a problem 25 years ago but it is now. They have some nice brown pumps in Hobbses; I might get those.

Shoes. I have too many pairs to fit in my closet. I need to take some of them to a thrift shop. I definitely have the female shoe gene. I love to buy shoes. I have 7 pairs of black dress shoes.

I probably have far too many shoes. Quite a number are specialist shoes - climbing shoes, wetsuit boots, hiking boots, ones for canoeing in. For general wear I have several pairs that get worn till they fall apart and then beyond (hey shoes can be resoled and repaired ). This is mainly because it's such a bind finding ones in the right size for my feet. I normally get some if I find them in the right size and styles.

I'm sitting next to my closet, so let's see...

10 pairs heels (including pink, green, black, sandals and close-toed)
1 pair work trainers (beer soaked and unwearable anywhere else)
3 pair other trainers (purple and pink chuck taylors, low and hi respectively, and 1 pair for the gym)
5 pair sandals (2 flipflops, 2 slipons, and Chacos. Soon to be six, as I'm getting new Chacos and sending the old ones for resoling).
1 pair merrell jungle mocs (which are being replaced next week)
5 pair chinese mary janes (black, green, 2 brown, and heather gray)
2 pair birkenstocks

Hey, that's actually not too bad. I used to have over 40. I need to get one pair of the birks resoled and then get rid of the other pair, as I hardly ever wear them anymore. And some of the heels could stand to go, I think. We'll see. It's so hard for me to cull my shoes.

I am up far too early.

I am quite like phil. I've a hard foot to fit and I have a number of specialty shoes (sorel boots good to -40, cycling shoes, bouldering shoes) as well as something to wear in different cases. The only thing that I have too much of is Vans. They are far too comfortable for me to easily throw away and they are not fit to give to anyone else by the time I am done with them. I have three pair that are nearing the end of their usefullness.

You could give them to the Navy Marv.

Shoes:
1 pair of ankle boots for walking
1 pair of slip-on suede-type shoes for going around town
2 pairs of beaten-up slippers (one pair of which was used by Vinnie for teething, mainly because he liked to see the look on my face when I encountered the latest damage)
2 pairs of Ecco sandals, 5 yrs old, in need of replacement but I can't find the same style
1 pair of sandals in the closet, awaiting further attempts to break them in.
1 pair of heeled shoes with lots of little black straps that I used to wear a lot but now keep as a souvenir of the days when I used to wear heels.

Very cold and windy here; we had a bit of snow last night.

Blah. I love how things in your life seem to go about their business, in the back of your mind and then all of a sudden they're very much in the foreground demanding attention.

This month I've got to change my oil, get a tire rod replaced, realign my wheel, get my car inspected, take my dog for a shot, go in for an eye exam, get my dog registered at the town office, mail out my taxes.

I have been moving desks today, which is fun. Recycling lots of old stuff I don't need anymore. This is in preparation to my having my own proper team to lead (of three people, but that's still a team, right?) and an office which consists solely of said team. Exciting and scary, but at least I get a bigger desk and a phone with all sorts of strange buttons on it out of the deal.

Off home now, to check that the cats haven't destroyed anything. Billy and Clint 's owners come back this evening, so an end to the cat-sitting duties for now. Billy spent most of yesterday afternoon sitting on my lap and drooling on my jeans while I was sitting out in the garden and reading a book.

Although I rarely buy shoes, I do seem to have rather a lot of them - mainly because I can never throw anything out.
I have a pair of gold sandals from my wedding gear - worn only once in 1978 and then not again until last summer.

My favourite is my summer flip-flops which are fuchsia pink with sequins on the thongy bit. £10 in Em and Ess and they should last this summer too.

I have a lovely pair of Bally black suede 'posh' shoes - fifteen years old and trashed from dancing on soggy grass under a marquee, but I can't bear to bin them. They're Tardis shoes - look too narrow to fit but miraculously do.

I think I probably do have a recessive form of the shoe gene.

Anyone want to help me give Ben the Birthday Bumps?

Then I'll give her some , and a magic car which goes from Cheltenham to Yorkshire in only 20 minutes.
