First snow yesterday but it melted right away - if it had come later it might have stayed as the temperature dropped. Glorious sunny day, but with temperature still below freezing point and an antarctic northerly wind.

The fires are starting to settle down here. A friend of mine's mum lost her house, but got the important stuff out. Good thing I haven't taken all of the stuff on my couch to Goodwill yet...

We've seen some footage of the California fires on tv. It looks terrifying.
How are things going with the clean-up, Marv? I'm glad your own apartment wasn't directly affected.
That cold wind you mentioned must have come the long way round, Ti
Right. Up and at 'em

Morning all.
I certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere near those fires!
Marv, I hope you can get everything sorted. Flooding is a nasty messy business and even more so when it's got sewage mixed up with it all.
We had an enjoyable afternoon going kite flying yesterday just enough wind to fly but not too much to make it hard work.
I don't have rings or jewellery like that. The only stuff that could be classed as jewellery is watches. One a pocket watch and gold chain I was given for my 21st and the watch I wear normally is a big chunky diving watch.

I am such a plonker!
Went all the way to the gym, totally up for a spinning class, and found I'd no trainers in my gym bag.
Harrumph.
Did someone mention digestive biscuits, a hearty breakfast and salsa & chips?
Hope your chest behaves, mini

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Nov 17, 2008
I'm getting *another* cold so am jealous of those of you allowed to take medications of any sort for it, and I hate the taste of lemsip.
Those fires look decidedly scary - glad to be thousands of mile away but concerned for those that aren't.
I have an engagement ring that is a square (princess cut) rock on a fairly plain platinum band. Currently being worn on my right hand ring finger as this doesn't seem to have swollen as much as my LH ring finger. I have a plain thin platinum band as a wedding ring (currently too small to wear anywhere - a consequence of being bought it when was at my thinnest!) and a platinum eternity ring bought when I had T'boy which is also not being worn despite being bigger than both other rings due to the aforementioned lopsided swollen fingers. When I recover my body again from the latest parasite all three rings are usually worn on the same finger.
J didn't have the engagement ring when he proposed - I have to admit to being a little disappointed. He thought he'd only get the wrong thing and thought I'd enjoy shopping with him for such an expensive purchase - he was right about the shopping thing but the ring we ended up with was the one he'd have bought on his own so he should have trusted his own judgement!

Goodmorning!
hey i never take meds for colds, i normally let them run there course, i am sure they go quicker that way, days not weeksdont tell any of the docs

Don't mind not paying for meds, or paying as little as possible, as long as they are through a doctor. It's the doctor's recommendation which produces the placebo effect for me.
Mind you, I disregarded a doctor's advice for the first time ever the other day. She told me to take three different types of painkiller for the foot, and when I bleated 'breastfeeding' she told me to take it anyway. I, on the other hand, decided that if I have gone 14 months without medication stronger than paracetamol, not to mention limiting myself to the occassional cup of coffee, then I was dammed if I was going to start now, when The End Is In Sight. And the cheapest possible paracetamol on its own seems to have worked just fine.
The Star's full name is a googlewhack. In English and Russian. That's when the results come back 'no matches' isn't it? Google attempts to match B's name, but can't, and mine only has a true match for me, which is why I keep it off the net as much as possible. Maiden name too. The joys of having unusual surnames. The trick would be making it not different.
My wedding ring is something I saw in B's family ring collection and liked. It's a rose gold band with black scrollwork etched in. Well, it used to have black scrollwork, but the black rubbed off. I wear it on my right hand as that's the Russian wedding ring hand and I got used to it. B gave me a plain gold band and a ring with a lily sculpture in three different golds with some very very small diamond chips in which I wear on the left hand so as not to confuse people, when I'm in the mood. The lily thing catches on everything though.
Other than that, I like costume jewellery broaches, the more sparkly the better, and that's about it.
B's ring is his father's wedding ring. Nice solid chunck of gold. He doesn't wear it all the time though.

Happy Monday, everyone. It's 7:10am here, and I could definitely use another one to two hours of sleep. Why do I never sleep my best on Sunday nights? That's when I could use a solid eight hours, not this uneasy six to seven business.

Board meeting day for me. Oh joy. Shouldn't be too bad. Truthfully, with smellfungus out of the picture, board meetings are much more pleasant.
Best wishes, hugs, toasts and commiserations to all who need them.

That Hypatia was a remarkable woman, indeed, Lofty. She met a rather gruesome end, though. I am far less distinguished, but at least have a chance of dying peacefully in my own bed.
