No engagement ring here (no one to get engaged to) My favorite ring is thick, silver, with a large oval mottled-black turquoise. It was made by a Navajo silversmith, but it's not a traditional Southwestern-style piece of jewelry at all. It's very ultra-modern looking.

I'm in FG's boat here - no engagement ring because no engagement.
I have two rings that are worth mention. One is a beautiful gold wishbone ring with diamond and ruby, bought for passing my A-levels because Mum felt I needed some proper jewellery now that I was an official adult.
The other is three opals in claw settings and I have a feeling it was her first engagement ring. Most of her pretties got stolen a few years back when we were burgled, so she must have been wearing this one that day, and the only things she usually wears are her engagement and wedding rings.

I have some fabulous rings, courtesy of my rellies. I have my great-grandmother's engagement ring (a Tiffany ring with thirteen diamonds that survived my mom's house burning down), a platinum and pearl ring from one grandmother, the 'Sputnik' ring from the other (it's from 1960, a gold dome the size of a marble studded with semi-precious stones), and an antique Zuni Sun ring from my great-great aunt (whose husband was one of the archaeologists who re-discovered the ruins of Machu Pichu).

No rings here. No jewellery of any kind, in fact.

Bagpuss, I don't wear any of them but the engagement ring. The other rings I wear are boring...a celtic band from a friend, and a couple of single stone rings -- a garnet and green amber. The other rings are too big/too gaudy to wear regularly!

I own no rings, and the only related item I ever wear is a cross pendant - when I can find it! Nor have I ever given rings to anyone. On a related note, can someone sort out the Titanic stage manager, who asked me last night to let her know when she needs to buy a hat? It's only been two and a half months!
All gone ship - sunk beneath the waves for the sixth and final time. I stayed to help with the "get out", so saw the stage in that strange empty state at the end. It'll be the last time I'm on that exact stage, as the theatre is closing for redevelopment in March. Sad to see the show end, as it was really rewarding, but also really emotionally draining.

I have no rings - but I do tend to prescribe Omeprazole (prilosec) instead of Esomeprazole (nexium), because it does the same job and it's cheaper.

Ti, I particularly like this one, it looks very Scythian, somehow...

I have a rather plain silver band from my trip to Taos, on my left hand, and a sapphire (my birthstone) in a solitaire setting in silver on my right. The sapphire is very flawed, like me -- you'd need a Klieg light to get any light through it!
GDZ, congratulations on getting the ring; you must be very excited, and eager to give the ring to J!

Funny that jewelry should come up. I've just been through my jewelry box doing a clean out. The spot price of gold is decent and I've got some broken pieces I am going to sell. Also, some nice pieces I just never want to see again. Must purge the bad karma. I am on the fence on whether I should hang on to the diamond from the engagement ring. I do have 2 daughters that might have a use for it some day.

Stones can always be re-set Witty.
I never got an engagement ring, but I did use the last cheque from my ex to buy a disengagement ring.
Recently my fingers are too large to wear any of my rings.
For years I used to wear my wedding ring on my left hand an a bloodstone signet ring on my right. The bloodstone has my father's family crest in it, which sounds very grand, but isn't. He had it made for me on my 18th birthday. I might get it enlarged and start wearing it again.

Purging bad karma is good, Witty
I'd keep the sparkler; with the financial world collapsing around our ears it seems like a good idea to hold onto some 'hard collateral'.
Those rings are both beautiful, Ti.
Currently, I'm not wearing any rings because I've put on so much weight that I can't get them on my fingers anymore. My wedding ring had to be cut off during a joint flare-up
We had thought about getting a new wedding ring but decided not to when we saw the price of them and anyway, a new one would feel inappropriate somehow. Better to stick with an expanded, mended and slightly battered original one - which more or less sums up a thirty year marriage.
My engagement ring belonged originally to J's grandmother. The diamond was acquired in S America, where his grandfather was wor*king at the time, and set into a dress ring. The stone isn't that large but is a very pretty, old fashioned cut. By the time I got the ring the shank was very worn so we had the stone reset.
I don't have much jewellery to speak of; a decent watch, my rings - and a selection of cheap and cheerful earrings.

Lil, how did it go yesterday?
My engagement ring is in my jewelry box. For years I've said I was going to take the stones out and have the gold from my wedding set and F's wedding ring melted down and have a cocktail ring made out of it all. Haven't done it, obviously. It's a pretty ring. Diamond and rubies.
I have three rings I wear off and on. An emerald birthstone ring with diamonds, a garnet solitaire and a turquoise ring that I like quite a lot.
It's cold. Winter isn't even officially here yet, and I'm ready for spring.
