I have finally discovered a substitute for red licorice; cherry-flavored dried cranberries. Even the texture is almost right.

Is licorice (as in the UK sweet licorice) unavailable in th US - or at least those part that salonistas live in? I've had to give up on it as there's just too much sugar in them there licorice strings. MC certainly likes it all though, I just take a small tasting
I must say though she does find some fine things called fruit leathers. A fruit concoction that's dried out in sheets and then sold off in small packets (again it's something I really have to be controlled and say NO! to unless I need sugar RIGHT NOW!).
Perhaps we should look at buying a cranberry bush or two, our garden is just of VERY acid moorland and happily supports a blueberry bush...

We have licorice and fruit leather on this side of the pond. I don't like either, but dried cherries...now you're talking!
I got the new Vanity Fair the other night and there's only two or three decent articles in the entire thing. Very disappointing. Plus, that Leonardo DiCaprio is on the cover. I don't know about you, but watching him act is about as exciting as watching oatmeal.

You need a bog to grow cranberries. Leave the garden hose running for a week and you'll be all set.
I can't get a Christmas name. First because I refused to follow instructions (no capital letters!), then because my browser insists on replacing what I type with the capitalized version. Maybe that's my spellchecker. Anyway, it comes out half blank.
Has anyone heard from Titania? She hasn't been posting much since her insomnia started.

OK, Damn the work schedule. I am off for the next three days. I am going to get proper sleep tonight if it kills me. I think that I had a flashback (not LDS) whilst looking at a carousel at a shopping mall today.

Or a religious experience?
I got the latest Vanity Fair, but haven't even got to the meat and potatoes yet. I enjoy looking at the ads, the menswear and cologne ads. As an artist. (yeah, right). But I noticed pretty much across the board, that the election issues of magazines, like the New Yorker and Atlantic Monthly, are NOT talking about US politics. The Atlantic is all about Iran.

Well, I've heard that ingestion of a certain chemical is something akin to a religious experiance to some folks.

Hmm... I had a buddy who ate a whole bunch of nutmeg and then slept for a week. Would that count?
Ever read Carlos Castenada? That was a weird fellow...
B - raise up that head! I use hubby because it's funny, not because I think it's appropriate.

It's too early for me to be doing Chrismassy things. I wish we could go back to the victorian idea of putting the decorations up on Christmas eve, while the kids are in bed. Then Christmas day feels more special, and they haven't had time to get bored.
Some of the shops here had their decs up way before halloween

Thanks Ormy, it must have been a canon, there certainly was a very loud bang!
Agapanthus, I use the TPS to block phone calls, dead handy. Just occasionally one gets through and and I politely point out that I am registered with a Government agency to block calls such their's and I shall be reporting them. Makes me feel so much better as they grovel on the other end of the phone. One tried to tell me that the registration only lasts six months and I took even greater pleasure in telling them that that was complete crap.
My Little Helper name using my IG name is Lucky Berry. Using my RL name is Tumbleflump Horny
Johnny Depp *sigh*
I haven't read November's Good Housekeeping and December's arrived on the doormat a week ago. As for reading a book? haven't for ages. Naughty SWG just keeps dragging me back in, especially with the Jump to LightSpeed expansion.

(sorry Marv feel free to just ignore this ever so completely)
Obviuosly, society as a whole and shops in particular has started the Christmas frenzy - at least somewhat.
At home, we tend to be "conservative" about it - we don't bring out any decorations until Dec 1 and the Christmas tree is brought into the house and decorated as a wee tradition. With a few things added to it every year - after having had, ummmm *counts on fingers and toes*, something like 16 Christmases together, it is starting to look like a real Christmas tree
But there's still weeks 'till the 1st...

MOrning all
We tend to put decorations etc up about a week before christmas, but we are having to think about it now to organise who will be going where, and for how long. J and I are hosting the festivities again this year so I need to order my turkey from the local farm pretty soon. Think we will get a smaller one than we had last year, we are feeding four more people but could have eaten turkey dinners every day for a week after last christmas. We may cut back the menu a bit too, meat-and-about-fourteen-veg (plus 4 sauces) was a bit excessive
We are going to have my parents, brother, brother's mate and uncle and aunt, and J's mum, dad, brother and possibly brother's girlfriend It will be the first time they have all met up...
tartarone - the sigh arrived on Nov 3rd and remains because I can't think of anything else that sums up my mood better. Plus that is where I usually put my diet news, and things are not, uh, going exactly to plan just now.
