Mornin All
Cool and breezy with scattered clouds. A real harbinger of Spring, the Camelia outside our front door is blooming, yeah.
So, in celebration, today I am sporting a new shirt and tie. Very city, white with a black stripe and a white spots on a black background tie

hicdig, you asked about where I start for research...well, I think it starts with the bibliographies and footnotes of other people's books. And then random googling. And then more books, more footnotes, and occasionally terrific finds. Mostly, it's a lot of fruitless dead ends and the occasional "WOW!"

Ho hum - after the meteorologics declared spring to officially have arrived (consecutive days/nights of temperatures above freezing) we're now in limbo season again!
I don't *want* to have spring day 1, winter day 2, spring day 3, winter day 4!

Yup. It seems like the day I've taken off work is likely to be the wettest and windiest this week. What luck!
Still it means I can concentrate on getting some odd jobs and errands done.

I bowled my second highest game of the season last night and still lost by 110 pins. It didn't help me that my opponent bowled a 280.

280? That's just plain rude!
I have been painting pillars in my lounge today, which has been vaguely therapeutic. The paint looks a bit like instant porridge (you know, the stuff that isn't really porridge at all), but goes on reasonably well. Or it does if someone who is actually good at DIY and decoraing does it. The lounge looks awful at the moment. My more skilled housemate P will do the second coat while I'm at the theatre tonight.
My vitamin, zinc and honey intake is going up, as the cast of My Fair Lady is afflicted by some sort of virus or other illness-causing thingummy. It's working its way through the young men. It has taken out the two youngest, and I've just realised that I'm the next in line, even though I'm 11 years older than the second victim. Eep!

David B, I think your paint is thixotropic, if I've spelled it right.
Honored scribe, you may, at your convenience, email me with notes. I am asterlil at gmail dot com.
Horridly cold this morning, and there was a fresh thin coat of snow on the ground, but it's melting now.

*looks up the big long word*
Ah, that would explain why the tin says "do not stir" in big scary letters. I shall have to remember that word.
And am I the only one anxiously wondering whether they agreed to scribe and have since mislaid the memory of doing so?

It warn't me, that's all I know!
David, is your virus a sort of bronchitis/wheezing cough/fever sort of thing? It spread around here like wildfire - we seemed to all catch it, all at once.

MR I agree with trying to find Foucault wrong.
Lentilla, that was a great poem.
David, I have visions of Corinthian columns-or are they more prosaic?
Finished 1st week of admin job, it's going fine but I was definitely ready for home time today.
In other news, my wallflowers are starting to flower

Wallflowers! We haven't even got the daffs out yet.
Some odd jobs and things done that you never get round to. I did manage some DIY. Not painting (need to decide on colours before we can strip the kitchen walls and paint them) but putting new sealant round the bathroom sink. We got round to taking the old stuff off the other week and now it has some nice smooth clean stuff round the edge. It is quite horrible stuff though.
Thixotropic, I remember that word from my schooldays. Something that is thixotropic that everyone is likely to have come across is tomato ketchup.

Yes, I'm happy it's Friday. I keep sleeping later and later during the week, and never really catching up. Maybe I can have a marathon sleep-in Saturday... If my energetic husband doesn't wake me up.

A week from tomorrow, Spring Break starts. I suppose staring at the calendar works even worse than staring at the clock?
