Excellent, Bagpuss!

I haven't played Diplomacy for years, but I remember enjoying it very much. After a while, though, everyone pretty much seems to ignore the actual 'diplomacy' part to get on with the move-making! Another 'gosh, is it time for dinner already?' game I remember enjoying was called Poleconomy, which involved trying to become Prime Minister.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Snow, I hate snow, we have about 1.5 inches of it, in October.

It's a balmy 70ยบ here this morning. A bit on the breezy side, but generally lovely.

My costume is going to have to be pretty generic. On the other hand, I don't know why we should feel obligated to use Disney's interpretation of how storybook characters looked. I can carry an apple. Or a hand mirror! Robe, crown, hand mirror, evil queen. Works for me.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

Just been to the wildlife sanctuary near me for the first time in two weeks. There is a path at back with moss on the path and trees growing over. It is always a little darker and cooler than elsewhere and it was like an enchanted wood today as masses of toadstools have grown along the moss path. They are quite large, around 4 inches with white caps almost like an unbralla with a round end instead of pointed. Dotted around are smaller more normal brown toadstools.
As the place was empty it very much was like an enchanted wood.

I'd not mind a bit of snow, myself. I'm rather tired of blue and breezy.

Lucky smiley - cat checked out fine at the vet, is now flea and earmite free, and takes over much more of my bed than anything that small has a right to. Oxy smiley - cat has even grudingly accepted her, and shared the water bowl last night.

As I will be starting the final leg of floor insulation tomorrow I have been tidying up the rest of flat as know when the floor is finished I will be too tired to do whole flat at once.
I now realise I will have to do an extra layer of high density slab insulation as 3 won't be enough which means extra work as unfortunately I thought I had nearly finished. That will mean 4 layers of 30mm insulation which will pretty much mean the whole floor cavity is filled when battons are included. I don't think it will be as good as hoped, mind you not all floor is down yet, but it will at least be a little better than before. Mr Loud Voice has a voice that just seems to go through anything.
I originally thought of doing bedroom too as kid crys during night a lot but the flesh is weak and couldn't face going through all this again workwise not alone cost!
I have a bad feeling that kid might be here permanently as now realise the mother has died, perhaps in hospital, as whether I like it or not I have heared them talking about it.
.
It is very odd as I know the woman owns the downstairs flat as she bought it off last woman who lived there but she seems to have moved out and comes back only occasionally. I think it odd that the woman who owns the flat seems to be living elsewhere while her boyfriend carries on living there with another woman's kid! To be honest if I was the woman and couldn't stand the kid's noise I would ask Mr Loud Voice and kid to go not the other way around....

I'm glad to see others getting into costume. Some of us love Halloween so much, we could spend all October in our anagram costumes if it didn't get on everyone's nerves.

I've been too busy lately to write extended posts, but now I have a quiet afternoon to myself. My car's back in the shop again. There's a big hole in the radiator, and I have to get a new one--that and some other basic maintenance will set me back over $200 this week when it's all fixed. In the meantime, I'm driving my stepbrother's truck: a quad-cab Chevy Silverado diesel pickup with topper and monster tires. OMG, this is the biggest vehicle I have ever driven in my life. I need a stepladder to reach the truck's built-in ladder so I can get behind the wheel, and even then I can barely see over the steering wheel. After three days of driving it, I've figured out my, er, boundaries. Now I won't roll right over other cars and crush them like an overripe tomato.

This coming Saturday, I'm leaving on vacation to Oregon. I won't be back until November 5th. Here's where I'm going, in case anyone wants to visit online with me:

The first three days will be spent in McMinnville, Oregon, home of some of the state's finest Pinot noir wineries. I'm staying here:

Then it's doubling back and heading east up into the Cascade Range, for a few days at the hippie commune-cum-natural hot springs resort, Breitenbush Hot Springs:

The final part of my stay I'll be camping on the Oregon coast--in early November. I've already invested in a warm camping mattress and rain gear. I'm staying in one of the yurts provided by Oregon State Parks at Cape Lookout State Park:

Cape Lookout offers some fine chances at whale, walrus and seal watching. Plus, I'm only 15 miles from Tillamook, Oregon, home of some really delicious cheese:

I'm looking forward to gorging myself on Pinot noir, fresh seafood and some of Tillamook's extra sharp cheddar.

Soooooooooo, just back from rehearsal for Mystery Night. When I comlained that the costume for the Evil Queen hadn't arrived, wasn't coming, it was decided I should be Aladdin, since said character was't cast and is more important to the story than the queen. smiley - sigh Now I need an Aladdin costume.

Have a fab trip, FG.

And as an aside, I am now a blond. smiley - yikes I thought it would be more frosted with brown showing through. Some ideas are better than others. Oh well, I do have the complexion and eyes for it. But I haven't been blond for 25 years. It is going to take a tad of getting used to. I wanted a frost the same color as the gray at my temples. The result is a lot lighter than I expected. But it doesn't look gray as much as ash blond. smiley - blush

Yurts are good smiley - smiley I'd like to spend some time in a yurt, it'd be really special if we managed to do it in the central asian steppe.

Welcome to a new week. Having waded through a 90 post b'log as a sort of stretching exercise for the day.

So near yet so far for England Rugby and Lewis Hamilton. Why do I get a wiff of corruption from Formula 1. Like football there's something not quite kosher about it.

I'm liable to fall asleep at work today seeing as them Bosox won in game seven and finished at about 5 am here in the UK. I just hope I didn't wake the neighbours when Pedroia hit his 2 run homer.

What a way to start the week. Still full of a cold and to be told on ariving at work, by the way, your server is making that bleeping racket!
Still should be fixable when we put in a service call to get another drive sent out. Best go and make that full system backup now...
