90Xth Conversation at Lil's
Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Started conversation Oct 19, 2007
Welcome to the Atelier! If this is your first visit, please do us the honour of reading through our forum page at A304354, then come to the foyer. I assure you, you will be welcome.
Once again, Dame Witty Moniker has stepped forward and done a superb job of scribing for the most recent conversation. She also did something quite original and listed everyone in the order of their arrival, and look what an impressive list it is! I really hadn't stopped to think about how many of us there are. Anyway, let us toast Dame Witty for her excellent scribing. *Chloe steps forward with a quill pen, a snowy white plume set in a base of malachite* Witty, of course I can't give you a poison pen, but this little vial contains essence of poison ivy. It's volatile, only good for an hour, but it will inflict itself on the first person to hand-receive what you write. You can now write a check for your contractor with a happy heart.
Z, how last to the forum can a salonista be?? You were well past post 2000 when you strolled in! Let's see you in those mohair sock pants, then. Chloe just washed and air-dried them yesterday -- how do they feel?
It was wonderful to see eatsmice popping his head in to say hello, and we look forward to his more permanent return. I wish Amy had been able to stay as well.
And now, I shall read Witty's notes.
Hypatia was First to the Forum for the first time in ages, quite appropriate after scribing the previous conversation. She even bestowed her own set of awards on noteworthy events and posts by the Salonistas.

Personal activities of note:
Kelli had a well-deserved Pamper Day which had nothing to do with disposable diapers.
Rev Nick and spouse traveled to the UK for the anniversary trip.
Agapanthus went on holiday for a week, as did Phil. And Strangely. And Br. Todaymueller. And Bagpuss. But not together, not even the same week. Sol returned from her holiday, as did Egon. Apologies if I missed anyone coming and going.
Strangely’s work day took a turn for the surreal when he accompanied a work-related acquaintance to the emergency room. Sadly, the person did not survive. (WM is now immensely curious to know what Strangely does for a living.)
Amy P ~finally~ got moved into temporary quarters while her apartment is rehabilitated.
LibrarianPear’s cardiac catheterization went well with only a bit more than a bit of bruising to show for it.
Hypatia got lots of feedback on the update to her library’s website, including Lentilla’s Hot Toadie recipe that had us going as green as a toad.
Beatrice is recovering from domestic flooding.
Hyp’s small town parade managed to have 22 marching bands participate.
David B. landed a part in a new show, My Fair Lady, scheduled for the spring.
Irv passed the Arizona Bar Exam.
Strangely’s noisy upstairs neighbor may turn out to be Nighthoover!
Popular conversation topics:
Somber weddings vs. jolly weddings. Pretty much all receptions were fairly jolly regardless of the tone of the ceremony.
A typo of Marv’s name sparks a discussion of like and dislikes concerning names and nicknames.
Marv got an iPhone, sparking some envy in the salon.
Manscaping was defined.
Lil was very busy changing hats for her many forms of employment.
Wilma prepared for a major build at home. Feel free to lean on Witty, Teuchter and David B. for support, Wilma, they can relate.
Walking trails in the UK.
Alcohol consumption patterns.
Discussion of Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ was revived.
A possible link between education level and liberalness was debated.
Roadside memorials, are they appropriate?
Chockonaw was translated to more easily understood Shock and Awe.
Talk Like a Day was observed.
The Libertarian Zero Aggression Principle and whether it applies equally to individuals and social constructs was discussed.
Mr. Dreadful became an uncle.
Letterbox orgasms
National Butt Crack Day
Favorite radio shows.
The latest Terry Prachett novel
Squirrels, mice and spiders.
Depilation.
Cheeses
Chestnuts
Investiture:
Given fair warning, the Salonistas get gussied up in their finest finery. Lil grants titles to hootoo elders in a moving ceremony that culminates in a traditional Atelier-style party catered by Wolfgang & Houndstooth.
Atelier Honors List:
Marv is elevated to Viscount, signified by coronet bestowed by Lil.
Sir Sporkulious the Reticent, Lazy B*****d, Knight Extraordinaire of the Atelier
Dame Witty Moniker the Multifaceted, Hootoo Aboriginal, Knight Extraordinaire of the Atelier (Even temperament! Oh, right. This is virtual reality.)
In the Real World:
Luciano Pavarotti succumbed to cancer.
Madeleine L’Engle died of old age.
Quiz Time!

Lil’s semi-quiz: Finding the place where we each belong.
At the end of the conversation, attention had turned to screwdrivers and the merits of the power tool as opposed to manual screwing, and then went on to wood and other tools.
*Lil rolls up the scroll and passes it to Chloe* And now the salon is ready once again to receive us, dear entities. Please make yourselves at home.

I think it's very alphabetically appropriate that in any list, Z appears last.

*Enters the new thread dripping wet and out of breath.*
It figures! It starts to rain, the storm window won't close, and I spent the last 30 minures holding the regular window that won't stay up while my boss struggled with the storm window.
*Signals for a hot chocolate and goes back to the beginning of the thread.*

Judging by the list I appear to have forgotten to announce in the Salon that I went for an interview and won a promotion at work starting on November 1st. Silly me only mentioned this on my journal.
