Is it wrong to be so tired you can't do more than smile, even while you *know* that was damned funny?

Maybe Means is testing the waters and, in case it turns out it is possible for the Lakota to become a nation of their own, hoping to entice the Tribal Council?
Has there been any official denial of this story from the council? I'd be interested in seeing how this turns out...

By the way, has anyone happened to notice if Sweden has tipped 180º and is now upside-down?
The temperatures are quite the opposite of what's normal this close to Christmas; above freezing point in the north and below in the south, with a mere 10ºC difference, when it's usually 20º.
Which figures, since the metheorologist this morning showed a temperature curve map of Sweden and in the north it's 10ºC warmer than normal for this time of year, and that's quite a lot.
*wondering what changes the lack of frost in the ground up north might lead to, not being sure if it's good or bad*
*is struck by a horrible thought*
Hang on - that might lead to the extinction of cloudberries - or forest gold as it's sometimes called here!

I hope there are no students in today. The last day, the university closes down later.
We're dieting on a selection of mince pies, chocolates and biscuits that have been passed our way by various favoured members of staff. We are totally impartial and fix peoples problems when we can, it's just we might fix some peoples problems faster if they're nice to us. OK so we're easily bribed with a nice box of biscuits or chocolates

Four working hours (well, paid ones anyway) left in this year for me. Whooo-hooo !!!

3.5 for me
And I return on the 7th, not the 4th like I'd misread and been grumbling about (I mean, after all, it's not like any kid would actually bother doing anything on a day squeezed between Christmas vacation and a weekend!)

Russell Means is a relentless self-publicist. Denying his claims would involve taking him seriously.
Back before automation, law offices, libraries and government offices had filing clerks. It was a job niche, heavily populated with temps in local government (too tedious for most humans), at least as I remember it when I (a) temped, and (b) worked in a staff agency.

Amy, that's what I'm thinking. Which is why I don't expect my January 4th class to be particularly well-attended. Really, what difference does one lousy day make?

I seriously doubt it, Titania. Russell Means is more of a "Hollywood Indian". I don't even think he lives on the Rez. If he did, that would give him some credibility with whatever Council he's trying to entice (remember, there's more than one Lakota reservation, and therefore more than one Tribal Council).

Right then. Last posting from the office this year. Time to power down and sort stuff out before going home.

3 hours of work left for me, but I will be poking around hootoo from home.

One more day of work left for me, and how long it is will be entirely determined by how much time I spend on doing work, and how much time I spend looking at hootoo. I seem to be off to a bad start
I can report that Arizona has not turned upside down, as it is snowy and cold at higher elevations in the north, meanwhile it's 14C (50 or so F) in Phoenix with sun forecast all next week.
MR, I'll be in class on the 29th or 30th of December. Is that alright?

Irv, I'm good with that. What sort of lesson should I prepare? I'm thinking "Drinking 301" -- graduate level!

Graduate level sounds like a good place to start.
Just keep in mind that "Bar Review" is a 600 level (doctorate) course.

Just took the dog out for a walk, which turned into a gingerly creep, as the footpath was very icily slippery underfoot. So, something below zero here in Norn Irn.
