>> ... some nutter nearly ran me over in the car park, too busy arguing with the family to look where they were going.<<<
There's been some dreaful driving in our neck of the woods too, Bald Bloke.
For the last few days I've been thinking I must be driving an invisible car, due to the number of people who've been pulling out in front of me and cutting me up on the motorway.
Mind you - this evening I was darn near invisible in the fog. Stoopid woman that I am, in my efforts to find the foglight doodah, I managed to turn the light stalk the wrong way, morphing my headlights into sidelights.
After three days with my mother, I seem to be turning into her by some process of osmosis.
Gah.

Apparently Mrs. D's trip to the SUPERMARKET earlier wasn't much fun. No room in the carpark so she had to wait for someone to leave, and she ended up taking refuge in the coffee aisle as that was the only quiet place in the building!

I'm dreading going to the supermarket tomorrow. I forgot one lousy thing...

I'm going to have to go to the local grocery store in Capitan tomorrow after work, because I have run out of chocolate.

I can't wait to go to the store tomorrow. Working for six hours, dealing with those last minute Christmas shoppers.

I've got to brave the store tomorrow--luckily this entire county's got a smaller population than most towns, so it should be bearable-ish.

I was lucky enough to finish work at noon on Friday, and so hit the grocery store, liquor and meat market before the hordes really built up. So once home that afternoon, I have no need to go anywhere for days! Whooo.

Yuck. I've got the lurgy, thanks to my lovely daughter who still hasn't quite figured out the whole "cover your mouth when you cough" thing. Drat.

I did my last minute shop at Garson's Farm It was surprisingly pain free and productive. The veg are simply gorgeous, and the Christmassy bits wholesome.. We can meet up there next year, Teuchter, and chinwag over a while the 'nips and sprouts are being packed up for us If anyone else is in the area, we could have a proper hootoo Mini Meet
The goose is in, the veg is sorted, we're having a huge basketfull of chestnuts and tangerines from Lebanon and Palestine for afters. Normally we celebrate Christmas Eve but this year, as everyone else is doing Christmas Day, we have succumbed and fallen into step so today will be another day of visting.

We did our supermarket thing Friday and hopefully will not have to go again for some time. You could eat for six months out of our freezer. In fact, we plan to do just that.
We do, however, have to run to the local store (five miles away) and get miniature marshmallows for the sweet potatoes. It seems two little munchkins ate most of the bag I had stashed.
We celebrate Christmas at Gram's on Christmas Eve. This year's meal will be enchiladas, courtesy of S-I-L. Christmas Day we will have the obligatory ham, cheesy potatoes, candied yams, etc.

Sounds good, Wilma
Mr T has gone to collect the turkey from the organic farm and I am making celeriac soup - from veg we grew.
Most of the day will be spent prepping veg for tomorrow, making kedgereee (which is traditional Xmas Day breakfast at The Towers)and trying to achieve some semblence of order.
A lot of our stuff is still in storage and I know the only roasting tin large enough for a turkey is in there somewhere.
It's No1's birthday today and she's asked for pizza and salad tonight. I vetoed the cheese fondue request since she won't get here until about 10.00pm.
Sending peaceful thoughts to all Salonistas.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted Dec 24, 2007
I did the last of my Christmas food shopping several days ago to avoid the rush.
Christmas always seems like an expensive time but the other day I realised that although I have bought a fair amount of food most of it is actually things that will last for a long time after like pickled onions, sweet pickle, etc. Some tinned stuff I won't get around to using over Christmas either and I certainly won't drink all the tinned soft drinks I have over bought, I don't think even I can drink 12x 6packs over 2 days!

Back to work today. I wonder if we'll have any visitors? I was surprised at the number of people who showed up to tour a building that has no heat upstairs. The Canadians I could understand but not the Mississippians.

BC#3 is out of intensive care, and doing well. He may even go home soon. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all of you for the well wishes. He really is a dear person. Scared the crap out of all of us.
I am preparing for a hectic shopping day. I need to pick up my mother in a few minutes. We still have several things to replace in her fridge. And if we are going to have duck tomorrow, I suppose I should buy one.
The good thing about the power outage is that it gave me a chance to empty out a large chest type freezer she had. She would buy and buy, stuff things in there and then never use any of it. So, this was the time ot talk her into getting rid of the freezer. We checked with various relatives and located a cousin's daughter who needed a freezer. It has already been picked up and is on the way to KC as I type.
We had much less snow Saturday than most of the midwest. Just enough to make the roads slick for a few hours. Lady C had a real blizzard.
I am trying to make out a list of everything I could possibly need so I don't have to do any more shopping until next year. I am looking forward to having the 26-30th off with absolutely nothing to do - especially not braving the stores during the after-Christmas frenzy. To those odf you who enjoy that sort of thing - knock yourselves out.

I'm glad BC #3 is doing better.
My trip to the SUPERMARKET wasn't too bad, but not soon after I got home I found out that I'm hosting Christmas Eve dinner, so it's back to the SUPERMARKET today.

I'm off to the market in about 10 minutes. I figure it can't be too bad this early in the morning, and I'm out of throat drops. How does one go from not being sick to full blown laryngitis overnight? This is silly!

Not great being at this time of the year, MR. I hope you get rid of it very soon.
Good excuse for a hot toddy

A soothing hot toddy for your laryngitis, MR. Hope you feel better soon.
The sun is shining in the plains today. Maybe some of our snow will melt.
Merry Christmas to all.
Time to don an apron and begin the cooking frenzy.
Lady C.
