STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring )

Hides in corner as someone who likes grey squirrels.
True they do occasionally eat young birds/eggs but not often. They certainly eat nuts, etc off trees, but I still kind of like them. I heard a strange noise last year and it was a squirrel hanging upside down by its toes from a gutter three floors up pinching and eating peanuts from a bird feeder, it carried on for at least ten minutes none stop without a care in the world.
I like it when they stand on their back legs on the lawn and look around with those "Tuffty Club" back legs. They make a clucking noise like a bird and sometimes sound like a Magpie, Crow or Parakeet, which can be a bit confusing.
.
Squirrels are cheaky chapies and ready to run in and pinch any sort of food really, even a whole quatre of pizza. I think one got trapped in one of out plastic Wheelie Bin dustbins and chewed its way out by the look of the teeth marks.
I am reminded of a woman on a TV programme who reported a new type of squirrel with a furless tail she had been feeding in her local park, it turns out she had been feeding rats!

Lentilla (Keeper of Non-Sequiturs)

Squirrels are really clever at getting into birdfeeders... I remember a program on PBS that talked about building an obstacle course for squirrels - tightropes, hanging feeders, little swings... The squirrel navigated it all with ease.

I like squirrels. One of my neighbors hates them. He sets a live trap near his birdfeeder and then takes the trapped squirrels to the nearest city park and lets them loose. I guess I should be happy he's not killing them, but I wish he would leave them alone.

Funny thing about that Harry Potter spoiler link - the second time I clicked it it gave a very accurate description of the real ending to HP7, apart from the daleks.

Time again for the link to Scary Squirrel World

I think I post that here every 614th day.

I saw a squirrel while out hiking last weekend. At first I thought (against all reason, since I'm well south of the Kaibab forest) that it was a Kaibab squirrel because of it's very big, bushy tail. But I think it's ears were not large and tufty enough to be a Kaibab. Also, while it's tail was grey, it's body had a reddish tinge to it. Is this a normal red squirrel? Either it was following me, or I saw about 5 (it was the kind of hike where seeing 5 wouldn't be too surprising). Anyone know what squirrels are native to the Coconino National Forest?

Montana Redhead (now with letters)

Irv, I think the tufted red squirrel is native (if I'm remembering the one lone tour thingy I took when I worked at the Canyon).

Just went to the new Whole Foods that opened near me, and have discovered why they call it "whole paycheck". Insanely expensive!

Hmmmm - is there a medical condition related to being followed by squirrels...? smiley - tongueout

smiley - yawn Tough week this is - I have exactly tonight as the one where I'm not doing anything in the evening. Mon was dog training, Tue parents meeting at school, yesterday was scouting & tomorrow will be the annual party in the (whachamacallit?) after-school-hour-place for the 10-16+ years. At least that will feature music and smiley - ale!

It's bill time here-need to pay electricity, and as we now have one, car tax. And we discovered this morning that housemate No. 3 didn't, despite saying he would, pay last months internet bill *sends rabid giant squirrel monster upstairs*

I'm hoping the sun comes out here so it's nice to do the gardening, which reminds me-must water veg plants.

<<"Creepy Fetish Elf" does bring to mind some unwanted images...>>

It gave a lot of the other players unwanted images too! No, no, I didn’t get naked or anything it was more a case of “hmm… bipedal, pulse… fair game”… especially the Beastkin as they’ve got claws! Spending an entire evening coming on to most of the player characters was bizarrely fun (and I have to admit, without getting into ‘too much info’ territory, that playing the character mostly required nothing more than turning certain aspects of my own personality up to eleven).

Squirrels!?! I saw my first ever Red (i.e ‘proper’) Squirrel while in Scotland! smiley - wow

Just finished reading 'A Short History of Nearly Everything' by Bill Bryson (in Swedish) - and what a fascinating read that was! I wish my school books had been as interesting and entertaining...

Currently reading 'Short History...' (in English). It's a great book, though (as I discovered last week) not one to read when you've been awake for 48 hours. Even laymans terms get confusing when you're tired.

I don't find it offensive in the least, in fact without the description I think it would be difficult to tell that there was anything unusual about it. And it seems to me to be a misfire - if it had been a collage made from images of the war dead or injured, that would have been terribly offensive -- and accurate.
