As a temp ranger, I sit at the front desk in one historic building or another, sell tickets, answer questions about Lincoln history, do a bit of accounting at the end of the day re tickets, and then do a bit of cleaning up. It's very busy now, coming into Labor Day, but I can expect long quiet days by the end of September, with two exceptions, the motorcycle rally in mid-September, and the Cowboy Symposium in mid-October.

I like the sound of "Cowboy Symposium". It isn't quite an oxymoron, but 'symposium' has a suit and tie feel that doesn't quite go with 'cowboy'.

Sunday I ran the Old Courthouse; yesterday I ran the main museum. Wednesday it will be the Tunstall Store.

Today is a day off and I have a lot to get done.

Lil, do you visit the court house much? I don't know about NM, but here in AZ, especially in the more rural areas, lawyers are often seen wearing bolo ties and boots (with their suits) to court. I see cowboys in suits all the time

Of course, to me, symposium has an academic ring to it, so instead of suits, I'm picturing cowboys in tweed coats with patched elbows, cleaning their glasses and perhaps smoking pipe tobacco. This amuses me.

Lincoln's old courthouse is no longer used for courtly stuff. It's just a museum with an olde court room and even a Masons' Hall.
