Lentilla, it's world history to 1650, so prehistory, ancient history, the silk roads, black death, early exploration and colonization...
Yeah, really exciting to most of these kids.

MR, there's a really great Black Death tee shirt that you could wear to class one day and make the students sit up.

Plus, I'm sure you will, as ever, look great in a tee shirt.

For a few more posts, the extra width to the page are worth it. That's a fabulous print for a teacher's T-shirt. If any had had an open enough mind when I was still in school, lo those many years ago.

Mmm, nice T-shirt. Perhaps you can cover the entire curriculum with such references. A song about the Silk Road to the tune of Route 66 perhaps? Nah, doesn't scan.
You know I find history much more interesting now than I ever did at school.
Hyp - I'd have joined your staff in running about in a scared panic I think. On the other hand the only time I've really been called to action I did okay. Very drunk man forced his way into the hallway our shared house apparently under the impression that he lived there. I shoulder-barged him out of the door and shut it. He then shouted to be let in, ignoring all arguments that if he did live here we'd probably have recognised him, until one of my housemates instructed him "Look mate, f--- off!" Then he went quiet.

When you talk about the black death, you could always get a third of your students to play dead. At least they'll be participating. And quiet.

ah but birth of gunpowder, and the battery two things that became lost to the west when it closed or travel via sea became more prevalent, and a lot more used to watch TV program about the silk road was on about 3am, but well worth watching, lots of interesting thing to be seen along it, as I remember... thought more about trade than early exploration, also brought legends into the west(thinking about monkey and loki)virtually one and the same person...

There was this really interesting special about some Viking graves found in China along the Silk Road... Braided red hair, silver, and tartan were found in the graves.

Oh, I want that t-shirt. One of my best friends, also thoroughly overeducated, always wears heavy metal or rock tour t-shirts. It would be the perfect present for him. I can't work out if they'll ship to Europe and if so how much it'll cost. Am I being dim or do I need to email them?
GDZ - looking at rings, eh?
