I just had a terrible time getting here. But, Pollyanna that I am, I have faith that this will actually post.
BB, the photo is great! I really am very jealous of all of you.
I like the idea of a US meet. But, MR, the logical place to hold it is in Missouri. I am very close to the geographical center of the country. Ok, so it isn't exactly a tourist mecca, but we do have an airport and a large number of watering holes. It's perfect. And when you leave here you can take a 90 minute drive to Branson and see the has-been of your choice.
Concerning the other matter - I have never understood what possible pleasure people derive from things like vandalism, being bullies, or being deliberately insulting. Nor do I understand why people want to hang around a place that they disapprove of. Oetzi, if MSN is so much better, then what are you doing here?

There is no way on god's green earth that anyone is going to get me to go to Branson...what's next, Dollywood??!?!?!
Okay, admittedly, I would go there with a group of gay men (maybe the Queer Eye guys) and redo everyone I see, but the thought of actually going to a show there...
Not that I have anything against Missouri. I was born right outside of St. Louis, after all, and I have friends and family there still.
I wouldn't care where we have the US meet as long as it is somewhere I can either drive or take the train to. I hate to fly.

I find myself curious about that also.

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaa! The night is ours. All the Brits are in bed and we get to keep the servers that work.
Nog the Noggin, welcome to the atelier! If I had been able to post reliably, between the XML errors and the trolls, I would have said it sooner. You'll find a link on our page A304354 , that will take you to floor plans and back story about the atelier, to get you oriented. But it looks as if some people here already know you.
Roswell tomorrow morning, Carrizozo Tuesday morning and lunch, the Billy talk at the Women's Institute in Ruidoso on Wednesday, and after ~that~ I can look around and get a new conversation organized. They usually happen every three weeks, so in terms of time we're about right. It's the volume of posts that's disconcerting.

Lil, if you have the text of your presentation for the Billy stuff, and do not mind sharing it, I would like to give it a read. I understand if you would rather not send it out due to copyright questions etc.

I don't actually have it in text form, Marv. I have a bunch of posterboards, a few handouts, and a small pile of index cards that I largely don't need. But I have to organise easels and at least review the material a few times, because I haven't done the talk since the beginning of September.
I do look forward to rolling out a new conversation, and I am also going to start a separate discussion thread regarding some reading I've been doing on theory of emotions.

New discussion? When? Where?

When Lil posts it. Could be five seconds from now, could be sometime in the middle of next week. You never know. That's why we race to be the first poster.
Oh, and incidentally, I recommend Chicago for a meet up. Not only is it within a realistic driving distance for me, but it's got any number of restaurants and museums that could be used as a suitable gathering.

Oh, I see. Make it easy for you, eh?
Actually, Chicago wouldn't be bad, because then I could just take the train. But not in winter, thanks. My blood's gotten thin since I moved to California!

I like the idea of Chicago, it is my kinda town
On the XML side, yes XML is retrieved from the servers but it is probably something happening after the retrieval. When you get XML it's basically just a document with a bunch of tags, much like when you see your homepage during editing.
The "parsing" error is probably happening during the XSL, XSLT process which takes an XML document and Transforms it (the T in XSLT), using an XSL stylesheet (XSL = eXtensible Stylesheet Language). This is why your data will usually save, but the consequent display is all gummed up.
Probably more than you wanted to know, but I'm prepping for an XML exam.

Oh, and does anyone know if this is a legit Microsoft site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
My browser redirected itself there of its own accord this morning. It looks legit, but then if it was a scam, it would look legit, wouldn't it?
I assume it is ok, but don't want to take stupid risks.
