Marv,
Sorry to hear about the work stress. Things have been pretty out of control at my work as well. This gives rise to a question.
What is your favorite relaxation technique?
Mine - I close my eyes. Take a few deep breaths. Imagine myself standing on the shores of a tropical island. The warm sun on my back, the cool breeze on my face and the gentle waves washing over my feet. Then I look down and notice that my foot is on top of the head of the person who has been stressing me out.
I don't know. It works for me.

My favourite relaxation technique is either listening to violent hard rock or classical music. In fact just today I bought a recording of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana(sp?) and I realized how much I was missing. I had pnly ever heard the first song in that opera till now. I rather like the full thing and I also love teh story it tells. Thankfully the lyrics are printed both in Latin and English.

My favourite relaxation technique is having a nice glass of good red wine. It seems to work.

I can't sleep, which is bad news, because I need to. Don't know why I can't sleep - too much going on, and not enough happening, perhaps.

for Ben, I know I've been up to late because the shop I live above is getting it's morning delivery of newspapers!

I know plenty of people that agree. The worst sound is the morning paper delivery when you haven't been to sleep yet. Only 9:15 pm here and fortunately I don't think I'll be hearing that sound tonight.
Sorry the rest of you are having trouble. I use to have insomnia pretty bad, so I know what sleepless nights are all about.

It's ok dw2, it happens to all of us at times.
I am in teh middle of a very long insomnia stretch. I am cutting back on teh caffeine that has been a big part of my life for years to combat it, but so far it is little help. In fact the 6-7 hours of sleep I got last night (as a result of an incredibly long day and mild exposure) was the most and best I have had in some time.

My worst stretch was 9 months where I didn't sleep more than 3 hours a night. My school actually called my parents because they thought I was on drugs. Luckily my parents already know about it so they didn't freak out.
After seeing every kind of doctor you can think of, they finally determined that there wasn't anything wrong with me physically. They thought it might be stress related but I didn't feel stressed. Finally my mom started taking me to a stress management clinic where I learned biofeedback. It was the only thing that worked and it worked really well.
Turns out you can be in an almost constant state of stress and since it never really goes away, you adjust and start thinking it's normal. Pretty sick really.

You know? That sounds like something that I should look in to. Perhaps that is why my sleep does not exsist.

When I get stressed I can't sleep, which used to happen very rarely. A while back, though, I was losing a night's sleep a week, which was just nasty. It's worse cos usually I can sleep for England. But three hours a night for 9 months? I think you should look into it Marv. Like the man says, you just get stuck in a loop, and it's very hard to get out.

Here's the group that worked with me. Check into it. After the success I had, I was totally convinced about the power of the mind over the body.

I hate not being able to sleep, but it is less of a problem since I started on HRT, when the bad reports on the stuff don't keep me awake anyway!
A couple of glasses of helped, Amy. I have never managed to swallow whisky, it makes me gasp so much that it evaporates first!
