Not sure about the poem... but very pleasing to find it for your dad, Z. I cannot believe how much difference google has made to finding that sort of trivial information.

GL - what a nightmare! You were incredibly lucky with those stairs, too.

Not much happening here. I am going to try to get an early night, ha ha!

Personly I think it's a bit slushy, but that seems to be his taste in poetry, this is one that he hasn't seen for more than 40 years so I expect that he won't like it so much now.

On Sunday we spent at least an hour at my Gran's house trying to find the book it was in.

That happens with poems. And music too.

Mind you - the segue from perfectly healthy to completely dead is well done.

Just phoned my parents to prove that the money I spend on an internet connection isnt' completely wasted.

Ben I've just had a look on your personal space, to see why Master B was making you so happy, and I'm very glad that the belief project might actually be completed smiley - biggrin I'd forgotten about it.

Being made ecstatic is always good.

I've made a resolution to learn to spell, I don't see why I can't learn the way that children do, just by memorising how words are spelt and testing ones self.

Today I've learnt to spell three types of drug, (for my exam) and the word ecstatic. I do hope you've spelt it right Ben smiley - winkeye

Ben,

Sorry to hear about 2001 and even more sorry that it's worse now. Stay strong and keep control of your life and hopefully everything will work out. (easy to say, tough to do)

"...follow my heart, and run the risk."
It's always tough when the heart and the mind are on opposite sides of a choice. I spent a few years following my heart and it was very rewarding. Strangely though, it led me right back to where my mind said I should be in the first place.

If you don't follow your heart, don't beat yourself up over it. It is such a cliche that the wisdom is often overlooked, "The grass is always greener on the other side." Make the best decision you can at any moment in time and never look back. Remember that the "Road Not Taken" could have lead you down a worse path.

dw2 - what you say is very wise. I only need one of the jobs, anyway, so I am now much more hopeful than I was this time last week. smiley - smiley

My favorite way to relax and de-stress is to take a long car drive, followed by some physical activity, like hiking or skiing. At the end of the day, I'm as mellow as an old sleeping smiley - cat.

Garius, is this a *good* chocolate brown or a *bad* chocolate brown?

*never liked chocolate brown for wall colour, regardless of shade*

I remember the time our family (when I was still living with my parents) moved to a bigger flat - the kitchen wallpaper was in green-blue-purple with a pattern of very big flowers - very early 70-ish or possibly late 60-ish flower-power style I'd say - but we moved there in the early 80ies...smiley - erm

Relaxation, sleep, stress, now moving. You people went through a lot of topics while I was gone.

I hate exams. I just found out how poorly I did on my last one. It brought my grave average down smiley - sadface

Me too, I especially hate exams in July, when the rest of the university is on holiday.

Z the peom brought to mind all those large expanses of tidal mud flat that are around the coast as in reading the papers recently there has been some articles about a chap in Morcambe who is a Queen's guide. His job is to take people across the tidal flats of Morcambe Bay between Morcambe and Cumbria. A three(ish) hour walk, should be quite different.

Phil - On a school trip I was on once we planned to walk across Morcambe Bay, with the aid of the Queens Guide. We didn't actually make the walk as he'd fallen off a ladder the day before. I love the tidal flats around Morcambe Bay, especally on the north side, around Ambleside, I think.

At least you didn't decide to try and do the walk anyway given that each year there is normally a report of fatalities in the area where people have gone out on the sands and couldn't get back - one I remember was where the search team could hear the guy calling for help but because of the fog they couldn't find him smiley - sadface

Montana Redhead (now with letters)

Okay, I admit, I'm spoiled having the ethernet on campus here. I could only check my email twice while I was gone, and log into hootoo not at all (my dad's 56k modem would have been fine, if it wasn't for the HUGE cache of useless crap on his computer he doesn't seem to want to part with).

My trip was great, if too short. My dad's wife is a loopy thing...lost her car in downtown Missoula (not exactly the easiest thing to do, since it's what, all of 7 square blocks?).

But the drive home was ..well, you pick the adjective. Just outside of Primm Nevada, there is a 3000 foot climb, which I was just starting up. It was raining, and some guy in a jeep was coming down the slope in the opposite direction of myself, going (the cops estimated) somewhere between 90 and 100 mph. He missed the last curve, and I watched him sail thru the front windshield as the car itself went end over end. I parked, and called 911 (thank God for cell phones). I didn't even deal with him, knowing somehow that he was beyond help. I helped the folks still in the jeep, getting their names and talking to them. One gal had a huge gash on her head, and I held a towel to it. I was there for a couple of hours, talking to the police. It was the most frightening thing I have ever seen, but I was throughly calm until I got to Barstow, when I opened the car door and promptly threw up.

What amazed me is that on the downside of the pass, all of these people were flying down it in the rain, and I thought "didn't you see that wreck back there? Slow the hell down, you idiot."

smiley - hug that must have been so difficult for you to deal with. Did you have to drive home afterwards as well?

I wish I knew what intellegent words of wisdom would be appropriate here but I don't so here's some gifs which seem a pathetic cop out.

The speed of the tide coming in was one of the things that quite amazed me when I visited Jersey several years ago - the water would sink ever so slowly, but the speed and the force of the water coming in was absolutely astounding! Huge waves splashing over the - uh - breakwaters(?). There's a fortress right outside Jersey, with a big clock outside showing at which time you're supposed to leave - at the latest - unless you want to be caught on the fortress island until the next change of tide...
