Welcome Silunaka!
Good luck, Courtesy.

for Marv
I was rather proud to be called "stupid and blinkered" by SEF, to be honest. Takes one to know one, and all that!
Had a relaxing weekend with my friend R, who bred Archer and Aitken, but she had very worrying news about one of their litter-mates.
A & A eat 400g of kitten food every day, plus some dry kitten food, and they weigh 9+lbs, and are 11" tall and 15" long from their shoulders to the base of their tales. Big cats, for ones which are not yet 8 months old.
The worrying news is that their brother is being given about 200g of adult food, (less protein, fewer vitamins) and is dramatically smaller. Since he was the biggest at birth, this is very concerning.
I have offered to take him while R finds a new home for him, and she is going to offer to take him back and feed him properly for the next 6 months. But he will never be the cat that he could have been. She is prepared to repay his cost to his owners sister (he was a present), and we may end up cat-napping him in a couple of weeks time...
I am astonished at how angry this has made me.

Thanks, Ben.
Malnutrition in animals makes me angry too. I know Vinnie and Limbo will never be other than moderately sized because we didn't find them till they were several months old, and they probably didn't get the proper balance of vitamins and minerals before then.
And don't get me started about stupid horse owners! Some people think all you have to do to maintain a 1600 pound animal is show it a lawn!
Your cats will be magnificent.

Poor Puss, but the instructions for feeding dry food do need to be read fully and weighed out. Too many owners just tip a bit into their 's bowl and obviously in the case of Archer and Aitken's brother, not even the appropiate mix.
Cassie is definitely in the big bracket, but she is lean and glossy coated and I would measure her if she would just stop playing with the tape measure! She has kept a close eye on No2 son whilst he has been taking the Polo apart.

Ben I suppose it just goes to show that you should never give a pet as a present, as his owners don't seem to have any experience of looking after cats.
The anti social angel fish has been rather badly injured in a fight that it started, (it was the bully of the tank) now it's swimming at an angle of 45 degrees looking rather miserable, swimming very slowing, and is difficult eat, yet still trying to pick on the other fish, this is the fish that once tried to fight with it's reflection.
My flatmate suggested whiskey and honey (with hot water) as a replacement for honey and lemon as I have a sore throat, it's actully quite good. But I expect that's the honey not the whiskey.

I confess to just tipping the dry cat food into the bowl, but I am working on the principal that if I am throwing food away, then they are getting enough of it. And at the moment they are growing.
R is very upset. She had been assured by someone she trusted that the owner was a responsible person...
I'll let you know what happens.

Ben I think the cat is lucky that it has someone who cares about it enough to look after it before things get considerably worse. SO many animals aren't that lucky.

It has? Odd, because we're a pretty friendly bunch of people over all (well, most of us) at h2g2 - maybe you've just caught us at a bad time? (holidays/vacations/no internet access from home/-thingy)
It would also depend in which part of the you live in, since there are researchers from practically all parts of the world here!
Anyway, welcome to the Atelier stinkywigfiddle! To find out exactly what kind of place this is, try checking the entry this conversation belongs to (A304354) and maybe the first posting in this thread which sums up things nicely: <./>T296172</.>

Sorry Witty, didn't see you there... *rubs head*
Odd - the h2g2 serves seem to have some problems with the postings pages - on of my Kristina conversations pops up on my Titania list...

Now that IS wierd!
Hi stinkywigfiddle. Welcome to the Aetelier. Though it is bedtime for me. I was amazed at how much I missed having two small reprobates in bed with me these last two nights.
As I said the other day, "why sleep with one disgraced Tory politician, when you can sleep with two?"

Absolutely - and that is the nearest any Tory politician - disgraced or otherwise - is getting to MY bed!

I hate stories about mistreated animals. It sounds like you're rescued him in time.

Of course, I'm glad to hear Archer and Aitken are both well.
What would people think if they didn't know that they were cats,
I've tried sleeping but without any success so I'm back up here, looking for paracetamol to cure my headache, I've got the start of a cold. Fortunatley my granddad gave me a ten pound note so I can go and buy some oranges juice tomorrow, that's meant to be good for colds.
Before anyone thinks that I'm an absurdly poor student I find that the only way to make my student loan last for the term, is to pretend that I'm signing on - get out an sum of money at the start of the week and not get any more until the end of the week, and for some reason only known to me the week begins on Wednesday. I could if it was an emergency get overdrawn!

Well, he isn't rescued yet, but we are on the case. As I said, I'll let you know. I've offered to house him while R finds him a new home, but Archer and Aitken are much bigger than he is now.

I'm not sure why I have such a hard time with conversations.
Was there some kind of study on shyness that I missed?

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jul 27, 2003
Shyness? That does sound a bit odd to me - privately, in RL (Real Life) I'm a shy person, but I find it a lot easier to talk to people and even share my inner thoughts (and even ranting) with them online, especially at h2g2 where I feel quite comfortable about it

stinkywigfiddle Posted Jul 27, 2003
It's not so much that I'm shy on h2g2, it's that I can't think of anything to say. I am a shy person in RL though...
Sorry to change the subject.
