Phil Posted Jul 1, 2003
[p] trying to come back on line to reality after the Glastonbury festival. Top time was had, loads seen and done and thought about. I even managed to find time to see some of the artists performing! Quick list of things that stick out still - Jimmy Cliff on saturday afternoon in the sunshine, Pan Optikum doing a very arty theatre/firewarks/acrobatics set, having a play on a human gyroscope , Le Cod Afrique doing their N African/Arabesque/French style music, wandering round the green fields looking at various sculpture works and displays on alternative/green stuff and a whole load of other stuff that just happened around.
Peace.

Furniture now polished. Isn't this fun? I deserve a break.

Glad to hear that Sol's furniture is glowing and that Marv is on the mend.
Today is the dreaded silly food program. I spent a fortune on the supplies. Looks like the staff will have to eat "silly" for the rest of the week.
Speaking of...I only have to work 3 days this week! Yea!!!!!!!!!
All of us are a little stressed so I decided to close the joint down on Saturday as well as Friday, then I'll have my Monday off, so voila...4 day weekend.

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Jul 1, 2003
Hypatia, thanks for the advice. My doctor had a free two week sample of the purple pill so that's what I'm taking (it is tremendously effective) but if my prescription plan objects I'll have to try your method. The smaller meals bit is the part I'm having the most trouble with, especially at night. It makes me hungry just about an hour before bedtime, and that's the worst time to eat.

Good day y'all! *gets some tea and makes herself a chicken sandwich for breakfast*
I was on that purple pill for several years: all the tension I had in my life while dad was dying worked its will in my digestive system. Now I'm on something a bit less expensive called protonix, and have reduced my dosage to 1 every other day. And I eat late at night, too -- gives me a headache if I'm too hungry before I go to bed.
Lots to do this morning. I'll see you all later.

I've been blessed with an iron esphagus, I guess. I get heartburn only if I eat really spicy food and then lay down immediately after (and how often does *that* happen?)

So this morning I was 2 hours late to work. As a result of sleeping most of yesterday I did not sleep well last night. I work up three hours late and had to really hammer it to make it to work less than 2 hours late.
What a way to start a work week.

Loads of backlog.
Various kinds of stuff happening over the last two days, some good, some frustrating.

Back online at last! It seems ntl upgraded their service to 600k and 100k, without letting those of us on 512k know
Needless to say it took H and several phone calls to sort 'em!
I enjoyed the meet too and meant to say hello to GD, but ended up helping 2legs into his coat which was adventure at the end of the evening
T and Z it was lovely to meet you both in the flesh and good to see those that I already know.

Silly food program is finished, kids are gone, librarian is still alive.
Marv, I passed around a plate of Oreos and mustard. Some of the kids refused to try it, but most did and some even asked for seconds.
The strangest combination was created by a kid named Alex. He put barbecue sauce on one slice of bread and cream cheese on the other. Then he layered on sliced banana, potato chips, bologna, and maple syrup. And he ate it! That was the rule. They had to eat whatever combination they made. Most of them stuck to three or four ingredients. And one little girl just had bread and butter and cheese. I don't think she quite grasped the concept.
