And there is no smell of cinnamon wafting from the oven.
Marv, ginger is good for upset stomachs. What did you eat that made you sick and where? Inquiring minds want to know.
There are several Salonistas who are Fforde fans.

/* Sniggers, because chocolate is also on the list of things not to eat too when one has acid reflux, then takes a long deep slurp of the milkshake. */
I believe Matina's been ACEd, but not at her user space - in her kitchen F129258?thread=290769 I'm sure that's not the explanation for the noise though.

I should be helping too, but it is all I can do to walk.
I had a gyro at a greek fast food joint in the mall. I had nothin else toe eat yesterday, so I woudl imagine that it would have to be that.
I did nto really sleep well last night, and at 0530 I had to purge the offending (for lack of a better term) food. I have been up and down since.
I know that I am not completely ill, because my mental proceses have not been effected as they usualy are wont to do. The lingering sick feeling is still bothering me and I have a massive headache.
I have to do what I can to help the cleaningm but I don't kow how usefull I will be. I have the spins and have almost no strength.
If I start to feel a bit better I may go to the grocery to get some ginger ale to help calm my beleaguered stomach.

They've started digging up the road outside The Nest again . Weapons of choice this time: angle grinder and bolster chisel.

Rain holding off here, but my it is a pants summer this year. Not that I want it to get too hot, but a few blue skies and a temperature above 10 degrees would be nice. Thank god I'm not getting married this year.

The workmen are now at the back of The Nest doing something on ladders just outside my bathroom window. I'll have to keep several legs crossed until their lunch break .

There always seems to be construction around your nest, Amy. Is there some big building project that has an end to it, or is this just the normal state of affairs?

There was a big project by Yorkshire Water to replace all the mains water pipes. That took over a year and they did it wrong so that had to dig up the whole road all over again. Then there was (or possibly is) a gas leak but the gas board left a big pothole in the road so the Council had to come along and fix it. Then the landlord repaired the parking spaces and service road at the front. Now we seem to have a problem with water draining into next door's basement.

We had 3.5 inches of rain over night and it's still raining.
Chico is missing. He didn't come home last night. Molly is looking everywhere for him and crying.
I have no morning paper - the 3rd time in 4 days. And the paper office won't even answer the phone. My neighbor has hers, so I know they've already made the run. I am a creature of habit. I need my paper and my cup of to get my day started.
Saturday morning I was told that they have the wrong phone number for our house in their computer - one we had 5 years ago in a different town. What that has to do with it is beyond me. Then they told me we had a substitute carrier. Well, that might explain it once. But you'd think that after the "sub" made a special trip back on Friday that he'd remember where the house is.
d'E, I know you've heard all this from your doctor, but with acid reflux it's important not to eat a big meal in the evening. Five small meals a day is better than 3 large ones. And unless you have drug coverage on your insurance, you may want to use OTC Zantac (or the WAl-Mart brand which works just fine) instead of those very expensive purple pills. Take 2 with breakfast and 2 with your dinner. Then chew some of the Walgreens brand of Gaviscon tablets before bed. And keep them in your desk at work for emergencies. If you do that, it shouldn't really matter what you eat. Enjoy your chocolate!

Try catching the paper boy, H (unless he/she arrives passes by *very* early in the morning) - there might be a new one doing the round due to vacations - I know I didn't always get completely correct distribution lists when I worked summers as a student carrying out morning newspapers

*comes in from her apartments*
I just checked and Ampton is still gone, so Matina has come back alone. Maybe she's unhappy with the way the Farmer's Wife treated the kitchen.
We had thunderstorms and strong winds with lots of hail, and no power for about an hour, yesterday afternoon. I wound up going next door for dinner after the worst of the weather. I took some pictures during the height of the bad weather, and will check my microdrive forthwith to see how they came out.
Prof, I'm very pleased to hear there's a new Fforde book coming out -- have you noticed another thread here at the atelier in which there's a fFordean rift in our expanded library? Actually, I sTILL haven't updated my website -- check http://www.asterlil.com/h2g2/aplannew.htm to see what happened to the floor plan while you were away!
So, then, are we having a barbeue on the beach with Hypatia's new grill? And have you all been designing fireworks?

again, I've recently had a article accepted for publication by the sudent BMJ, recently as in two minutes ago. So I'm estatically happy.
It's actually about my personal experience of growing up in the TM movenement, all I have to do is to send a some forms back declaring I have no competing interests and giving them copywrite!

Congratulations Z.
Chico just came in, so Molly and I are both relieved. He was a little damp, but looked perfectly fine. So he found a dry spot to spend the night.
The rain has stopped, at least temporarily. My rain gauge says 4 and about 1/8 inches. The sky is still very dark, so it may start again. One low spot in my yard looks like a pond.
I need to go shopping for the "stuff" for my children's programs tomorrow and Thursday. Silly food followed by funny songs. I'm going to bake sugar cookies on sticks and let the kids make faces out of them. So I'm off to Mr. Bulkys for candy to use for face parts.
I'll go by the propane gas place and get my tank filled for my new grill. Independence Day traditionally calls for hamburgers and hot dogs. But in my family we always have spare ribs and chicken, potato salad, spring salad (tomato, cucumber, red onion, bell pepper chopped with a little vinegar and salt), corn on the cob, baked beans, fruit salad and home made ice cream. Which reminds me, I haven't used the ice cream freezer since last year. I'd better get it out and cleaned up. Does that menu meet with your approval?
