It's mostly the overuse of Comic Sans that's the problem, but also its use in situations that call for a more formal font. We need to stamp it out now or face this disturbing vision of the future: http://bancomicsans.com/statistics.html
Wasn't lisping a common affectation in the 18th century? Don't quite know where I've picked up that gem, though.
I know why so many people have trouble with Guisborough: Guiseley. The difference is that Guiseley has an e after the s. *starts gesticulating wildly and pontificating about long vowels*

That's correct, Lady C. Same plant. Leaves are called cilantro and the seeds are called coriander. Weird, if you ask me.

And I refuse to grow it because it make the entire garden stink.

Lentilla (Keeper of Non-Sequiturs) Posted May 18, 2006
> After the heart attack, it's been very hard to enjoy anything I eat anymore.
Ah, yes - R. had the same problem after his stent. He felt like all food was The Enemy. Food isn't the enemy, I told him. Portion size is the enemy. It's okay to eat small delicious bits of food, instead of being stuck with the white boiled chicken and green salad. It helped his appetite. Now the problem is controlling the appetite... a problem I share. Every once in a while we have a heart-healthy splurge day and eat dark and drink
> Anyone else have irrational hates?
Lots! Both rational and irrational. I can't stand it when somebody's looking over my shoulder while I'm working on their projects. To the point of wanting to find a sharp stick and poke them with it until they go away.
And cell phones while driving. Every time I see somebody driving badly, they're on their cell phone.
> people who think it doesn't matter if they really stink while working out
Ewww, Kelli - you're talking about the funk, right? Smelling like you haven't bathed in a couple of days... now that's just wrong.
> Comic Sans
I have an entirely reasonable hate of the font Helvetica. It's the most overused font in existence. Arial is identical, so it's just as bad. That site's pretty funny, btw.
> but my M-I-L once found her wallet after some panicky time well preserved in the freezer.
Things I've found in the fridge/freezer after looking for them everywhere: Can of soup, box of Cheerios, peanut butter, keys.
Cilantro makes the garden stink, Hyp?

Cilantro makes the garden stink if you don't like the aroma of cilantro. I grew it once--only once. I would never plant it again!!! I was glad it wasn't in the garden and only in an area we didn't frequent very often.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted May 19, 2006
Nearly 8PM and it is still 90F/32C. I have had almost nothing but gatorade to drink in the last 3 days and I am still showing symptoms of heat exhaustion and I know them all too well being that I have gone down with it probably a dozen times over the last 10 years. Can I have Spring please?
I love cilantro, the taste, the smell, everything!

I LOVE that website -- especially the dollar bill in Comic Sans. How many fonts are there in the world? I have found that there are lots and lots of fonts that turn out to be identical except that the name has been changed. Bitstream's Euromode was stolen years ago and can now be found under the name Eurostile, for example. Why? Why rename the flippin' font?
I used to be an avid collector of fonts, but now I use about a dozen, except for very rare occasions when a novelty is required. I have a font that bleeds, one made of bones, another in mock kanji...

<< SpaceCadette, could you go throught the process of deciding food was the enemy? I am still stuck on it being the comfort >>
It's just that I'm scared enough that if I don't follow doctor's orders, I might have another heart attack. Just because I had a triple bypass doesn't mean my diet couldn't ruin all the surgeon's good work, and clog the new arteries up again... After 27 years as a diabetic, I was actually doing fairly well in the diet department -- just not well enough. Diabetes is an *evil* affliction...
<< refrigerator moments ... *pause*
other people have those too ? I put my folded ironed pile in the freezer yesterday >>
I once found my shoes in the refrigerator crisper...NO idea how I managed to do THAT!

Morning All,
There is only one way and one way only for the loo roll to hang and that is with the loose end out.
How can you make curry without coriander, seeds and leaves. Hmm, scratches head and shuffles off into Friday, and chinese tonight, luvlay.

The smell of coriander is wonderful! Does it have a flower that has an unpleasant scent then? The smell of the leaves when I chop them makes me . Basil has the same effect, so evocative of my favourite meals.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted May 19, 2006
Morning all
W*rking from home today to keep an eye on my beasties, we've run out of the compressed air stuff to go in their anti-bark collars and I don't want them to upset the neighbours. This will teach me to change suppliers - the last lot usually get the stuff to us in a day or two, but the new lot still haven't got to us despite ordering it last friday Won't be using them again even if they are a few quid cheaper...
Boy was it windy last night, a bit gusty to day but it was howling last night. Still, the barley looks amazing while it is being blown around.
Next door are back from holiday to Thailand - they were a bit surprised at our garden! He is out doing lots of work on theirs this morning think he thought we were putting them to shame!
Lentilla - yes, the funk. A contributing factor is often that the kit they are wearing has been in a plastic bag in a locker since the last time they worked out It is almost always men that do this.
I contributed to that loo roll entry, the picture has it the correct way round
Can any of the salonistas give me some tips for my visit to Chelsea next week? I've got 3.30pm tickets for friday so it is worth turning up early? How early? What is the best strategy for getting round once we're in? Is there anything I should take, or that I should avoid? I'm sure that drinks etc are punishingly expensive but I'll cope with that - anything else I should know? Am going with mum. My first erm, choice, was to ask J's mum. I know this is surprising given our relationship, but she is having a really unhappy time at the moment and I thought she'd really like it. She said no, but J said she sounded really disappointed that she couldn't come.

Hmm. Must plant some corriander so we can get fresh leaves to put in curries etc.
I'm sure there must be something else I need to add, other than, it's friday! Ah well if it comes to me then I'll let you all know.

Essentials for the Flower Show....
Wear comfy shoes
Don't carry too much - but pack a small brolly - useful for rain or as a parasol if it gets too hot - and take small bottle of water and a sarnie because prices within the show are horrific and the stuff's not that great.
A camera can be useful for recording any Good Ideas you might want to pinch.
Don't expect to see everything - but watch the tv coverage and identify anything you desperately want to see and make a bee-line for that first.
Just see where your feet take you.
Enjoy the atmosphere - yes it's busy and there will be a small number of obnoxious twonks but the majority of show-goers are pleasant and chatty.
Enjoy People Watching - there'll be some rare sights

>Why don't they stop growing?
GDZ, not to worry you or anything - I think they just don't know how to... Based on experience with one who'll be starting as 13 in a few weeks and is already 1,70 m (something like 5' 7" I think) Tall and thin as a reed, she is...
(hmmmm - is it a reed you're thin as?? I kinda think so...)
Ben - isn't it a bit demanding to ask somebeody to explain an *irrational* hate of Comic Sans...?
The Ban Comic Sans thing is I loved the "every time you use it, Faye will punch the bunny" propaganda flyer

I am definitely suffering from weather fatigue. I can't keep up - stormy winds last night kept us up for fear the 20 metre lime elm (or something) trees next door were going to come visiting through the bedroom windows. It was pouring this morning during the school run and now the sun is steaming the house up
Kelli, I so wish I had neighbours like yours. On one side we have students renting. They have a gorgeous large garden (by Nodnol standards) and as I look out, I see three huge flimsy looking trees dancing the salsa in the wind and millions, nay squillions, of fluffy dandelion heads keeping the tempo below On our right, we have a four generation family who really (really) don't like us. As I look over the wall, I see the stumps of two once-gorgeous holly trees and three firs - recently chopped down most unceremoniously, and a garden three feet deep in those odd plants that have little blue flowers. marginally pretty if you ignore the yards of bindweed growing in front of your eyes and the makeshift metal barriers from Hewdens
...
oh, and Chelsea. I advise you to sharpen your elbows. Lots of jostling goes on as the behatted bluebloods make their respective beelines for the plants de rigeur...
