Irrational hate: When people pronounce Washington or wash with a r there at the beginning. "I had to warsh my bedspread." "We went to Warshington State last year on vacation." Argh.

Irrational Hate: the misuse of the apostrophe in "its" when employed as a possessive.
Also, I loathe the way 'multiple' is being used instead of 'some', as in "I have multiple cats." This makes no sense. No matter how many cats I have, none of them are multiple.

I can be fairly pedantic about some things, so I have a lot of little pet hates. People who say "Irregardless" or "Irrespective" for instance. It infuriates me to no end.
People who use 'net shorthand in official business communication.
The person who referred to Websense as Web Scents. I mean, really. How hard is it to do your job professionally?

Marv, pedantic? Never! I'm not sarcastic either.

Irrational hates -- the flocks of little wild parrots that are getting ubiquitous in the L.A. area! The d*mned little green things squawk soooo loudly!!! And I think I'd loathe them even if they were pretty...
Strangely Strange, you've got some good ideas there, about housework. The problem is, if I carried something from one room to another to save a trip, I'd likely forget why I had it in the first place!! I'm having enough refrigerator moments as it is!

Irrational hates? People who sniffle and snuffle on buses.
Z, about the house/lodger thing... what happens if this person doesn't do the housework or has nasty habits? If you don't have a tenancy agreement with them it might be difficult to persuade them to move on. And if they've got nowhere to go I can't really see you turfing them out onto the streets.

Morning All, Morning miker,
No the car that turned my world all red in the outside lane of the M62 was an old MG 1100. We're talking over twenty five years ago. It was my own fault, being a good little engineer I'd checked the oil et al before setting off and not closed the bonnet properly. Funny its never happened to me again.

Irrational hates? People driving at low speed in the middle of three lanes on the motorway. People stopping to chat right in front of doorways. Probably a few others...

Morning everyone!
Marv - isn't "irrespective" how you negate "respective"? I agree "irregardless" is a double negative, but "irrespective" seems perfectly respectable to me.
I can't think of any pet hates, but I am sure I have them.
Z - you could actually rent out your room for money and put the cash towards a cleaner.

That would be a very sensible way to do things Ben! It would be a positive selling point in renting it out to say there will be a cleaner, well, it would have appeared that way to me anyway. OTOH, Z will have to clean it thoroughly first, in order to get someone to move in.
If it is *really* bad you might be able to get Kim and Aggie to do it for you
It is a grim morning here in Berkshire, and the weekend still feels a looooooong way away.
Irrational hates? Am sure I have contributed lots of them to the Petty Hates thread, but the one that irritates me the most (why do I have a sudden urge to use lots of words beginning with irr- ) is people who think it doesn't matter if they really stink while working out. Yes I know you are supposed to get sweaty but there are any number of ways you can avoid a toxic fug around you, and it is really hard for me to keep working out if I'm holding my nose...

Morning.
Irrartional hates, like getting to the train station early for the train only to find out it's cancelled. Not that I'm bitter about sitting at the station for half an hour and getting to work late this morning at all, no, not me. Still even though the next train ended up being late due to the overcrowding at least it ran.

If I rented it out and put the money towards a cleaner I would have to do half of the tiding, I want someone to do all the housework, not just their own half.
I did do quite well last night in my fifteen minutes of cleaning managed to do half the accumulated washing up (7 days worth).

'morning all.
*pulls out reams and reams of backlog in a scroll, licks thunb and starts*
Amy, AK47 and the Middle East? expound plizz!
Kelli, your garden looks luverly, thanks for sharing.
SpaceCadette, could you go throught the process of deciding food was the enemy? I am still stuck on it being the comfort
*licks thumb again*
Rabbits, climate prediction, BOINC, cleaning, self-absorbed colon cleansers , hiking in Sweden, paranoid parents, irrational hates....
*pause*
*brightens up*
Irrational hates Yes, plenty of those. Hooligns who put superglue in my car lock is one. Don't like it when I have to climb in throught he passenger door. It's way too much exercise
and dogs with docked tails. Make me shudder. Dust is a pet peeve but I think that is entirely rational, so scratch that
*licks thumb*
parrots, queues, flying bonnets on the motorway , refrigerator moments ...
*pause*
other people have those too ? I put my folded ironed pile in the freezer yesterday
The sun is out now but it is cold and windy and has been intermittently POURING for the last three days. My strawberries are flowering, the Pulsatilla is scrawny and reaching for the sky, the sweet peas have gone bonkers and I have an awful feeling Sunday is going to be cold and wet
Just thought of another hate: people who dont bother to respond to an invite. We have 25 adults and 15 children invited for lunch on Sunday. of the 40, only 2 have said no and twelve have said yes. How do they think I can cater for a possible extra 26 people?? I am going to have to find somewhere with a soup kitchen for all the extra stuff I can't freeze or give away
Ho hum...

Travel Alert
Anyone living in California or near the I-40 corridor and who would like to attend the Meet but doesn't want to make the long drive alone, please contact me or Xantief. He lives in Vacaville, but is taking the southern route to my place. He's willing to pick up passengers along the way and would enjoy the company and someone to share the driving.
