I'm a pharaoh ant and I spend a lot of time here in Lil's Atelier. Here in the salon we talk about books, art, computers, life...
Please, sit down, the sofas are very comfortable. *sits on her bean bag in front of the fire*

Certainly nobody at the Atelier could hold their breath for 10 minutes. It would stop us from talking and changing lightbulbs and stuff.
Welcome Guybrush.

Any sort of art. We talk about art we've made ourselves and art-related stories in the news... anything really. Lil has a studio over there... *points* ... and there is a workshop over there... *points*. We've only just had that built.

Welcome to the Salonista gethering spot, Guybrush Threepwood (the )!
Enjoy your stay here and, remember, no unnecessary keel-hauling of other people's vessels--unless you ask their permission first, or it's just in fun.

Where do you find the Cadbury Shots of 'Dairy Milk' chocolates? That just sounds SO-O-O-O-O Good...

Guybrush Threepwood, welcome to the atelier! Sorry for the tardy official welcome, but you appear to be on GMT or thereabouts, and I am way off in the American Southwest.
You can find out lots and lots about the atelier and its denizens the saloonistas by ready ing the page to which this thread is attached, and there are links on that page to pictures and maps of the atelier. It's a growing place, and you'll find it helpful to be oriented in the right direction.
Marv, I am sure you'll do well on the retry. Like Sporky, I too am rotten at test-taking because the things make me so nervous.
Vincent Black Shadow is injured; he appears to have been bitten by a horse -- probably he was trying to mug it. His off foreleg has been grabbed by something pincer-like but with flat teeth, like a horse. He is very sore but not lame.

Hello Guybrush Threepwood, takes a bit of concentration to type such a long name
Hypatia, I'm not sure if Cadbury's Shots are available in the US, they have only recently been introduced by Cadbury's.
I have long mourned the demise of Treets, they have never been the same since being rebranded as M&M's with the coloured coatings. But at last, there is a worthy successor.
Lighthousegirl w*rks at Cadbury's, I will ask her if she knows when they are to be shipped to your side of the pond.
Not only are there crocuses in flower in the garden, but the camellia has broken its buds too, 4 weeks early at least!

I'm sure he wouldn't mind being called Guybrush the .

Marv, our systems administrator is absolutely brilliant. He's been working in the computer field since the 70's. In spite of that he's always having to be certified or recertified in something or other. Not too long ago he completely blew one of his tests. He wasn't even close like you were. Went back in and aced the thing.
We're really lucky to have him. Since we're nonprofit, his firm gives us a reduced hourly rate. And he even volunteers for us on weekends. (He grew up in our library and has a soft spot for it.) There's no way we can afford to have someone on staff full time. He's always talking about starting his own business and concentrating on small libraries and other small nonprofits. Then he could charge what his company pays him, which of course is less that what we're billed. He would earn the same amount, we'd save money, and maybe the other small libraries in our area would finally be able to afford someone who actually knows what he's doing. But, all he does is talk about it. He doesn't want to give up the safety net of his job.
Anyway, I think it's a good idea. If worst comes to worst, maybe you could do something like that in your area. Or maybe one of your soon to be unemployed co-workers could. The government is good to provide funds for equipment. But then the small libraries have to scramble to keep everything running. On budgets that are tiny to begin with. If we can't afford the equipment, what makes them think we can afford the maintenance charges? We need help! Ok. End of appeal.
