It's snowing heavily!! Brother has been to Capitan to fetch a Sunday paper and reports that there is 4 inches on the ground there... and the weather is heading this way. OK. I have the car put away and enough wood for the next two days, and we have food. But I haven't cleaned the cat box, so that comes next.
I'm glad that "asymmetric threat" has been explained. I was pretty worried about lopsided terrorists for a while.

I understand that snow is heading toward SLC as well. By this time next week it should be a winter wonderland. Just remember that not all wonders are good things.

Okay, now we've done it. The next time google sweeps the bbc, all our comments will be easily accessible by those shadowy types at D**PA. Oooo-ooo, we're gonna get it!
Google must rank bbc hits very highly, h2g2 items always seem to sift right to the top of responses.

I will always be amazed by the things people spend hour after hour on researching - how about the best way to tie shoelaces?

Why, Titania, have you no sense of priorities? Think of the government money that was needed to determine the best way to lace a shoe?
The snow continues, the Capitan mountains are white, and the snow on Sierra Blanca is 8 feet thick. Good skiing for those who do that sport! We shall have many tourists, and in the Spring there will be runoff to feed the Rio Bonito.

T, I think it was just another way of saying "see what those crazy kids are up to these days!"
Garius, yes, that is the literal translation. However, both scienta and potentia are in particular form of the verb, which translates as a concrete noun with verbal intentions (I know, it sounds a bit shady itself, doesn't it).
Frankly, I'm amazed I remembered that.....

"He/she/it has been knowing the force"?!!!
"Ahh, yes, Admiral (Ret) Poindexter, we shall now teach you to stand on your head and make rocks float, a useful skill this is, ah yes, which you shall need when you save the world."
They are going to need the Force, if they plan to analyse H2G2 in general, and The Atelier in specific, to make National Security Decisions.
Asymetric, ah yes, are the threats. They are without balance. Charities they are,and internet start ups, that shall the money launder, hmmmm. And look you in Iraq for the weapons of mass destructions, but you will miss then the bombs that are little but big enough in Indonesia and the Phillipens and western Africa. Gather all the information in the world and you will know all, hmmm. But with so much information perhaps through the cracks slips reports of swarthy men acting strangly in flight school in Arizona, hmmm?

Moving office today, to another floor in the same building... everyone else is packing their files and folders into cardboard boxes - but I'm thinking it might be easier to just load them onto a cart, wheel it down to the 5th floor (from the 12th) and unload them into my new bookshelves - no?

Always take the easiest way, T, especially on a Monday.
I still can't get into that website. But whenever I have needed to find something, like the keys I *know* for sure I put back on the hook, I use the Force and find the keys under the next cushion or pile of papars that I have already checked twice

Yucky weather yesterday wasn't it? This morning was nice, dry and fresh in comparison, which made it feel so much more pleasent. Spent a happy night last night watching both Fantasia films and complaining of modern dumming down.
Oh, and that DARPA thingy, the Register has been on about it for a while. Seems like the aim is to collect every bit of data on everyone (shop loyalty cards, email records, internet logs, credit card transactions) and sift it for undesirables and UnAmerican thoughts. I hope they are impressed with the discount I got on a pair of trousers on Saturday.

Hi all! *waves*
Still very busy - have updated chipset driver to see if this helps my computer...so far so good but the other driver I was advised to download wouldn't unzip so more phone calls may be necessary, alas....
Also, Fiend recordings seems to be steadily gathering pace.....positive reviews of some of our stuff on a couple of e-zines recently, eg,

Sunday morning, at around 3 am I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard Cooper (my cocker spaniel) whimper. I assumed he was having a nightmare but I got up to see if he wanted to go out and found that he had thrown up. I opened the cage and once more he threw up and then left his cage to go out to sit by the door. On the way there he had squatted four times (squatted is not the word for it really but the resulting action did occur). I put on his leash and took him out and he wouldn't move at all- I could only get him to walk four steps and this is walk; he is usually a very active boy. When I went to take him back in he could only get one foot up on the steps and was unable to climb the rest. Once he came inside he walked into the living room where i found him lying down beside the couch having what seemed to me to be convulsions. A car to the vet was immediately made and an hour and 120$ later I was told by the vet that he had no idea what happened to Cooper. His temp, bowels, eyes, whatever were all fine. The only thing he had to say was that his color was a little off and that he had possibly had a stroke.
Cooper seems to be acting fine now but I am quite worried that he did have a stroke, what with his age and all (15 months).
