Jim mentioned in a thread about server upgrades for Hootoo that it was being delayed in part by key staff being in New York to upgrade the BBC proxy server this weekend.

With luck it might reduce your access problems for a while.

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC

That would explain why all of the BBC was simply gone from the internet this morning, at least on this side of the Atlantic.

Just catching up before tonight's episode of 24, I'm completely hooked!

No2 brother took Dad in to Hosp today for surgery tomorrow. He should be in for a minimum of 5 days, but as we are sharing the visiting with No1 brother, Dad will get visitors each day and I won't have to do too much roaring up and down the A3. In fact, No2 son has offered to do the roaring with me tomorrow if Dad isn't in Theatres until later in the day.

24 is about to start smiley - run

kabob, kebob...well, heck...not a dead sheep sandwich, no. it's chunks of meats, veggies, and even fruit on a skewer and grilled. another name for it? i know there is one, but i can't think of it at the moment.

Monday morning.
Eurovision Song Contest is already topping the news here. Weather is cold-cold.
I read Terry Pratchett's Pyramides last night, the translation was good.

Oh I am looking forward to Eurovision, and extensive coverage of Estonia, Hati. Russia, too, seems to have a... well, I don't know if I can describe the song as halfway decent exactly, but it is a slick little number from a boy band, which doesn't risk too much soul searching if Europe declines to be impressed. It is also half in Russian, which I rather think is a nice idea. Anyway.

May I be confident, Hati, that no expense has been spared to find a number from you guys which will have no chance whatsoever of winning and thus condemming to country to be hosts next year?

Funnily enough I was watching the huge annual rock festival they have here (I say huge and festival, but it is defiantly indoors, which somehow seems wrong) yesterday (on TV), with the headliners being the people who bombed so spectaularly in last year's comp.

Thanks for the kind thoughts re Dad. He goes into theatre this pm and has been dreading it. He has got to have skin grafting, so will have to two very sore sites and will be feeling sorry for himself for a while. I think we have got most of the days covered for visiting and I'm sure it won't be long before we start receiving instructions: No1 brother is Mr Finance, I'm Mrs Household Services and No2 brother (I'm in the middle) is Mr Fix-It!

We also each have a list of people we have to email as to his progress and things to keep an eye on! I wouldn't say he is demanding, but at 80, he likes to feel he gets some attention smiley - winkeye

Well, I'll have my fingers crossed for second place for you then. Close enough so as not to be humiliating, and to give you a few nail biting tense moments, but not do any damage smiley - smiley
