Does anyone know what's going on with the h2g2 Post?
It is a bit worrying when last week's Post page only says 'no edition this week', but then I also got a mail that the home space graphics competition is off - but it was still going on the week before last (May 8th)...

The Prof's birthday? Congrats indeed. Deary me, another one who is doomed to have Improtant Exams on his birthday from here to kingdom come. Surely that could have been better managed?

I haven't been able to get ahold of Shazz at all...
Well, I bought the His Dark Materials trilogy and am 1/2 way through book one. Pretty good stuff though I would find it difficult to believe that this is meant for young adults (I realise that the man is british, but for American teens, I'm sorry; their vocabularly rarely consists of polysylabbic words).
I will post up my star wars thingy later today... that is if my web server is cooperating...

Finally shoomphed my way through the backlog and extremely slow service to Hootoo and realised I have nothing of import to impart. So Happy Birthday Prof., a loobrush for Caer's dad and for all.

*wakes with start*
Birthday, did someone say? Hang on a tic...
*rummages in bag*
Aha!
*withdraws a very oddly-shaped, wandlike *
Many happy returns, Prof!
*too impatient to wait for the recipient to open it -- it's a webjello machete. Built on the same technology as lightsabres, it lets you hack right through 'net congestion *

Hullo all.
Well, I have an appointment with my doctor today to get my knees looked at. I rather suspect that he will refer me to another doctor who is also an orthopedic surgeon. Will let you all know what the result is. I forsee a much put off knee surgery in my near future.

Well, Dad has had his op and is back on the ward, fairly comfortable according to the Sister. No2 brother is seeing him tomorrow and will get the latest news.
The lag in this direction is non existent at the moment, must be the BBC end, I can't think the ntl have done anything to help! H says that the internet is still struggling after 11th Sept when huge numbers of hubs, routers, nodes etc ceased to exist and that it will be a long time before it returns to 'normal'. Perhaps that's partly why that side of the Pond is experiencing slow connections.

Made it.
I've read the backlog and did have one or two things to say but I've forgotten them now!
Had a great week diving, loads of fishes and corals. Some were even known by the end of the week
Highlights - seeing a small shark, a turtle and some gorgeous corals and fish life. Having a couple of dolphins swim the boat was a blast as well.
Lowlights - The heat. I'm not a hot climate person and the temps hitting just over 40C meant I got very dehydrated and tired. The overnight flight back wasn't fun either - I arrived home and got to bed just before 7 this morning
