Delightfully drizzly here, but I just realized my rain jacket is back home. I was going to walk around town looking for a job, but I don't think prospective employers would be impressed if I came in looking like a drowned rat.

Good morning, all! A week off, my grandparents coming to stay for four days, and the small person starts school. Wow! What a whirlwind. Good thing I am all settled with school. Bought my books (well, stuck em in a box at the bookstore to buy later, when the $$ rolls in).
The hubby's guard unit got called out for fires. Don't know where yet. He's usually a driver, so hopefully he won't have to actually be in the dangerous stuff, like real fire. Kind of scary, really. Won't be home until the day before school starts, so that's odd. But honestly, the money is great...hazard pay and all that. But I think I would rather have him home safe than all the money in the world.
Well, off to the evil golden arches for lunch. I promised the little person, so I might as well bite the bullet and get it over with!!

Sea, I know exactly how you feel. I had the hardest time getting out of bed this morning myself. I just wanted to lie there and look at my new ceiling...
Waiting for the weather to break would probably be best, Arl. There are employers out there who descriminate against drowned rats...
Red, sounds like quite the busy week! Since your hubby is a driver, I would tend to agree that he'll be kept away from the fire for the most part. Probably be stuck in logistics or the like...

I'm completely with you on the getting up problem this morning Gw7en and everyone else but in my case it was at least in part self inflicted due to me deciding to try and undo Bill Gates handiwork when windoze decided to screw itself (yet again).
Going to bed at nearly 3am when you have an 8 o'clock start the next morning is never a good idea
I now feel totally knackered, but I'm not going to get an early night tonight, like sensible people, because I'd already promised I'd meet a couple of people in the pub, Oh well here we go again
On the subject of burger outfits, I always find the portions are too small in Mc D's so I only go there if theres nothing else around.
Maybe the portion size is just a UK thing but the burgers from the other chains always seem to be a lot bigger.
Arl
Hope you find a decent job that has the money to go with it.
It always seems to me that the most interesting jobs are poorly paid.

Oh, I forgot to mention that last night I went to the IMAX theatre to see National Geographic's Mysteries of Egypt. It was awesome! Amazing photography of waterfalls, sand dunes and that barren rocky stuff near the valley of the kings. Not to mention the amazing views of the monuments. They had some cool reenactments too - the story of Howard Carter discovering Tutankamun's tomb (shot in black and white) and the building of the pyramids (lots of slaves/labourers pulling big slabs of rock up ramps). There was also a neat segment where the camera showed the view of the outside of a temple as it stands today - mostly intact, but one top corner missing, lots of carved images on the large flat faces. Then the picture slowly changed to show what it would have looked like when it was in use - the top corner filled in, the carvings coloured in gold and blue and other bright colours. It was very striking.
It was the first movie my 8-year old daughter had ever seen (other than a couple of videos). She was very impressed

Talking about sleep. Well, someone must be somewhere. As I always say, you only have to look at the circadian rhythm of a juvenile diurnal mammel such as the Peruviasn degu (Octodon degus) to realise how important sleep is to teenagers.
Yawn

Coffee and tabasco is a trick I used to use to stay awake on third shift. The pepper seems to kick up the caffeine some.
Red, I hope that the other half stays char free. We are still seeing a lot of smoke in the air here, but most of the fires seem to be in California I guess. Of course I never catch the news here in SLC. We could be on fire and the only way I would know is if it got hotter.

Talking of rats, drowned or otherwise, I haven't seen my favourite rat for a while.

Mini heatwave here in (supposedly) wintry Godzone. Expected high today of 19 Celsius. The 1st day of Spring is September 1. I blame the Americans

sorry, all, i'm in a bit of a bad mood. my friend just called to tell me that apparently there's a rumor circulating about my having slept with a FORMER friend of mine. if i had DONE something, it probably wouldn't bother me, but since i'm a virgin... this isn't the first rumor like this, either. needless to say, it's put me in a rather sour mood.

s sea. That's dreadful. Was it the former friend who started the rumour?
Was that an earthquake just then or just one of Affy's experiments?
