That is VERY confusing, because I once visited a specialist trying to find out if they could do anything about my infant scars, and he said 'well, in order to get rid of those scars, we'd have to cut them away, and the cuts would leave new scars, and they probably wouldn't heal well enough to become as smooth and soft as your current ones'...

Oh - and today when I finally got home after a horrible day in RL, I was immediately starting to feel better checking my post - next week I'm on vacation, and I'll be visiting the Falun Folk Music Festival - again!

...sorry, but I suddenly felt like an old maid complaining about her pains in the Village de la Vavoom...

I just finished reading the book 'Starship Titanic' by Terry Jones - and finally I REALLY understand the confusion I caused when diving head-first into h2g2-conversations as a newcomer...
...but the book I finally found was a translation into Swedish printed F-O-U-R Y-E-A-R-S after it was published in English.... come on... am I living in an equivalence of the 3rd world when it comes to literature?!?!

It takes over a year for books published in the Uk to make it my side of the pond and we speak the same language (well mostly).

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jul 4, 2001
[Amy]
Drunk again. Is there no end to this woman's depravity... hic!

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jul 4, 2001
...even when no translation is needed... I even managed to get hold of a copy of the game before I found the book...

Depravity? Stop that - right now!
Why would a woman drinking heavily be regarded as 'depraved' when a man doing the same thing would just be regarded as 'one of the blokes'???
*having discovered that her postings made unsober and made very-late-past-into-next-day-being-a-work-day seem to be equally meaningless, or dim, or inconsequential, or even unusually witty... no can tell!

I had a quiet night tonight. Tomorrow I may be posting here at about 3am (UK time) in a rather drunken state!

I don't normally do shots, too much alcohol, too little liquid. Beer is rather more self regulating.
Oh you me my other shots
Planning on a good lunch and dinner before going out.

Too tired for fireworks, even. How sad.

Can I let off a firework now? Can I? Can I?
I take it your friend did well on her PhD viva thingy, Amy? Splendid!
Happy America Day (again...), except to Affy, who gets a large glass of something very very cold. Hope they give you hazard pay.
Drat, forgotton what else I was going to say...
Oh, Bastille. Yes. It always amused my history teacher that in spite of being the symbol of the revolution, freeing the huddled masses, down with the aristos and all that, in fact there were, I think, 9 people 'rescued', most of whom were... noble. There for debt, I believe. And 'political' prisoners: nary a one.
Surely there was something else....

*mumbles something about people planning roadtrips to Cornwall in Antmobiles when they could just as easily have planned their roadtrip to London instead *
Only joking Amy. You have a wonderful time. I like Cornwall. Glad you aren't today.
Phil, hope you read this before departing for the day. Enjoy your last day of work with your current company, have a great time today and especially tonight, and I will see you tomorrow at KX 17.40 (barring delays) Then I can help you celebrate it all over again!
I suppose I should get all the last minute stuff done before heading south tomorrow. *sigh*
