Taking my six months gone bump to see (hear) Shrek. Mrs eats was at pains the other day explaining that the bump can hear.
Problem solved

I have a friend who had two sets of earphones at work while she was pregnant. She played Mozart for the baby and something a bit faster and more modern for herself. Hope that you and the bump - as well as Mrs eats - enjoy Shrek.

Gw7en - would you happen to have another h2g2 personality? One who's celebrated her birthday recently? Or is that just one of these strange coincidences of life?

True. I guess I should have added "touching-wood" to the list of Kiwi earthquake preventative practices

Affy: Not all churches cause all church goers to loose their free will. What I've noticed is that many fundamentalists will do and think whatever their church tells them, for instance my Grandmother (member of the Church of the Nazerene) would be perfectly willing to vote the way her church told her to. Anything they tell her on any subject (whether or not it is actually a religious subject) she will believe, and will attempt to push on others. I don't know what church you attend, but I'm sure that you attend it with a more open mind than my Grandmother does.
Maybe the next time the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints (which is the really long name mentioned above for "Mormons") come to my door I will flirt with them. I'm male, and straight, but it'd be interesting to find out how comfortable they are with their sexuality...

Arly, dearest, you *do* have a wicked streak in you, don't you? Dressing like Jesus, and flirting with those poor missionary boys. now, would you do both at the same time? Or is that just over the top?
Met with my committee advisor today. Told me to pick 6 schools for my PhD. So far, I have University of Maryland, Arizona State, Yale, and Penn State-University Park. Anyone else know of a school that specializes in late medieval/ early renaissance history, with a strong eclesiastical history element available?

I'm not wicked. It's my trickster nature. It goes with the name
And no, sorry, can't help on the School front. Do you know any good majors? I'm going into my third year, and starting my third new major.

Arl, be carefull. I know a lot of LDS missionaries that get *very* defensive when hit on by guys. They are not all good natured easy going men. Some are shy girls who feel the need to go on a mission instead of getting married.

Montana, I'm not sure about the ecclesiastical side, but the Rutgers University history program is excellent, and I know where the good pubs are.

Just a comment about people viewing Shrek: Amy, while that boy shouldn't have singled out girls, I must say that I have *never* seen anyone fight like that (and by this, I'm assuming that you're refering to the scene with "Mssr. Hood"). I mean, I've known lots of Martial Artists through my life, and I've never seen any that could pause in mid-air, have the world rotate 180 degrees, fix hair, and continue fighting.
I'm getting tired of all of these new tv game shows. They've become more numerous and prolific than that one boy band that keeps changing its name, and playing different songs (don't be fooled! N'Sync, 98 Degrees, and The Backstreet Boys are all one and the same! The government's behind this one, who else could do it???). Greed, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Survivor, The Weakest Link, Temptation Island, Survivor II, Temptation Island II, You Don't Know Jack (personal favorite),....I mean, I like them (with the exception of the Temptation Island series) but the networks are starting to put them into the same time slots! WHY???

But we keep on importing the crap shows from the UK. IIRD half of the shows mentioned were from the UK first... As always I could be wrong.

Just remember that we keep importing OUR crap (Baywatch, Dynasty). Frankly, I think that sometimes the lowest common denominator rules. Which is WWF is so popular, and why we keep seeing women that don't look real, and men in their 60's with women in their teens. It's what hollywood thinks we want to see, and sadly enough, there are enough stupid people who DO watch it, so we get more.
Give me Antiques Roadshow any day.

Ah, but you know that all anyone is interested in is how much the hitherto despised heirlooms cost, don't you? It is sensationalist TV at its worst the way they keep us hanging on, insisting on describing every liitle swirl and oddity...

Has Affy not seen Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? The girl fighters in that have some nifty ideas on hedge trimming too.

Talking about importing cr*p; I could mention Home and Away (aus), City Life (NZ), but I do love Bananas in Pyjamas!
Religion: I wish the organized believers would respect my decision of not joining in, the same way I respect theirs. For me it's just an unnecessary illusion. But I also realize that missionaring is such a big part of the package that it's unavoidable.
Interesting experiences: New years Eve, 1979 (I think) was the coldest night I've ever been out in. -20 degrees Celsius doesn't sound so much but if you add the humid air here on the West Coast it was really Cold!
The most painfull: Last August, I'll spare you for the details but blood inside the abdomen is really painfull!
Never experienced extreme warmth or draught though. I burn and get sunstroke even in mild weather...
Key: Complain about this post
