Done and done. I noticed someone put the H2G2 fiction banner down the bottom of their piece; this is a good idea. Would it be much to ask if all pieces had this banner at the bottom? The code for it is above, somewhere.

Lance.

I'm happy to put the banner on the story, and any others I do, but do I have to rewrite the whole story in GuideML to do that? Its just in text at the moment.

no, you just have to select GuideML in the 'change type' thingy at the bottom of the Edit page. You will have to put in paragraphs but that's not much bother smiley - smiley

I've gone and changed the title of my story. It's now called Red Clay and Four Doors, which I find more appropriate. Sorry for any inconveince.

...the stories I've put on H2G2 fiction are only going to stay on H2G2 for a month. This time next month they will be physically deleted, and then cancelled. So, read them while you can!

HELP!

I tried to put the banner in my researchers page, but I kept getting error in guideml messages. I faffed about with it, but although the error messages stopped the image isn't showing either. What have I done wrong and how can I put it right?

Hi Gar. smiley - smiley I'm no techno whizz, but I'm prepared to try and help.

This is what I pasted on my page, and it worked for me (make sure you put it within the usual your story plus code below goes here</GUIDE&gtsmiley - winkeye:

BTW I read your story – very nice – will post a comment soon. Good luck. smiley - smiley

I did. And I just tried repasting the code and it still doesn't work. I'm getting "Attribute border=0 invalid in "IMG" element. If I take the border out it questions the target= _default bit of the code. How come its working for everyone but me?

Hi again, Gar. smiley - smiley The only thing I can suggest is that maybe you typed a Capital 'o' instead of a zero in the code. But I'm guessing.

I'm not a techie, but I believe Bruce is, and you could always leave a Help message on his homepage. You'll find hime at:

Hey Lance, how about a forum-newsletter thing like the Misfits (H2G2 softball team) have? The idea is there's a forum which people can post one (and one only) message in, to 'sign up.' Then, whenever you put up a new short story on the main page, you say so in the forum. The forum therefore jumps up on each of our pages, and so we know.
