Christian Rock Should NOT Be Send To The Post Room 101... :-p

No really... I'm not joking... Honest!!!!
You do have to realise that if it was not for Christian Rock groups, some christians would not have dared listening to proper Rock bands...
Let's have a look at some of the points made:
>A sweetly sanctimonious blonde lead singer with a tambourine, who would be fanciable if she wasn't so pure.<
Hmmm... Yes, but there could be an interesting challenge there though...
>People with ginger hair never get jobs in real bands<
Is that guy from Simply Red a fake ginger then?!...
>A keyboard player with glasses who really wants to be back at home with mummy.<
...and you want to send him to Room 101?!... You're cruel, you are...
>A drummer who really wanted to be in a metal band, but decided to 'find God' instead so he could stare at the singer's bottom.<
Nothing wrong with starring at the singer's bottom...

Pretty thin arguments, loup, if I say so myself.
It is still uppermost in my mind that Christian Rock music is pretty much the most nauseating thing that has posed as 'rock' since Bonnie Tyler.
"People with ginger hair never get jobs in real bands

No, but Simply Red are a long way from being a convincing imitation of a rock band.

Yep the guy from simply red is fake.
Christian Rock should go in, no doubt about it, one hundred percent, it sucks, blows and vacums.
2 Christian Rock bands I've seen (unfornatly).
1) Stole 2 guitarists from my band by converting them to the light, all the songs were shocking with stuff like "I'm going to heven cause I'm a Christian" and other inflations of pompous self gratifing ego trip preaching. I didn't like the band, okay they had a message, but two many poeple left to examine the lobby for it to reach people.
That band were bad, but at least they advertised themselves as a band of god bothers.
I have a dislike of people who belive that thier faith is the only true faith and they have to make everybody belive it. If you go and volenterrily watch a chritian rock band - fair enough (I was only there to watch another act BTW) but worse are the bands who interrupt their act to start preaching
2) These were a vaugly decent act, however they started more and more preaching about how god was the only thing that ause save us and how belif in Jesus was etc etc etc. This gig there were only 2 bands playing, the band I manage and this mob, all our fans stayed around to watch them (admittedly I stormed out after 2 sermons and a poor cover of I belive in a Thing Called Love), none of their fans did, they all stayed in the pubs other bar, wandered up to watch their band and went back to their god bothering little lives afraid of what a bit of proper rock and roll would do to their chances of getting though the perly gaves.
Chrisitna Rock bands suck, they deserve without question to be sent to room 101, but bands who pretend not to be, and them leap on you with a pile of dribbling faith carp are even worse.
And while we are here, can we send those Christian Youth Workers who come into schools and sing with their guitars in as well? Aside from being irriating and poor players, it ailenates the non christians in the assemblies.

Yes please! I know a lot of my friends are Christians, young and some of them play in bands, and some of them work with the youth of the nation too, but really, Christian Rock Music... uck.
I'd like to refine the definition a little though. 'Christian Rock Music which is played in the hearing of anybody who isn't a Christian' might be better - I don't care if it exists as long as I can't hear it, and that also means I can enjoy my Pagan music (some of it's approaching rock, although it's more folk-rock than rock-rock) without having to be a hypocrite.

I've always thought that 'Christian Rock' is an oxymoron. Sex, drugs, and ... Jeses?!?!?!
And the lyrics are so inane. They take something profound and mysterious, set it to your basic 4/4 time, toss in a few chords and thumps, then shout it at you just in case you've missed the obvious. Give it up, folks, and go read Rumi to see how it's done.
Grrr - into Room 101 with Christian Rock!
quiz (opinionated wee thing, aren't I?)

My PC has become rather slow...
My experience of Christian Rock groups/bands is rather limited...
It's a bit why I'll still vote against putting Christian Rock in Room 101 for the moment...
The ones I've heard [they must have been the only existing good ones from what I've read] were playing in a "controlled" environment [as in: christian events] so they were not in any ways bothering no-christians [or, at least, those who were present knew what to expect]...
[Now, regarding those Christian Rock bands you're talking about... I could be tempted to vote them into Room 101 though...]

I'm afraid that's just not going to wash loup - the purpose of Christian Rock may be to show that Christianity isn't all boring and stuffy, but how assaulting people's ears with that kind of dreadfulness helps I do not know.
It's all for you, Jesus
And that's as much of that song I care to remember. If you're going to sing Christian songs, take a leaf from folk music and from the decent carols, and sing stories instead of declarations of faith. Sing about how Jesus healed people, or sing about the sermon on the mount, or something like that.

Blimey... For a moment I thought this thread had been moved to <./>Askh2g2</.>...
>I'm afraid that's just not going to wash loup<
Which part of my post, MaW?!
The one where I say that my experience of Christian Rock bands is rather limited or the one where I say that I might be tempted to vote those other Christian Rock bands talked about in here to the Room 101?!...
I've only based what I said from what I've experienced and, as I said, it was in a "controlled" environment and, believe it or not, those bands I've listened to were not too bad...
Like for commercial bands, there are some good ones and a lot of bad ones...
Now, if you want to have a go at those bands who play in non-christian venues/events/etc, fair enough, be my guest... I have no problem with that somehow...
I mean, I like listening to "The Red flag" but I can understand that it's not really on to sing it or any similar songs at a Conservative Party's conference...
>If you're going to sing Christian songs, take a leaf from folk music and from the decent carols, and sing stories instead of declarations of faith. Sing about how Jesus healed people, or sing about the sermon on the mount, or something like that.<
That would probably be a good thing to tell that to those who are in a Christian Rock band... I'm not in one... and _even_ if I wanted to be in one, I would certainly not be accepted anyway [and that's before they even heard me singing]...
But, hey, as long as they sing them to the people who are willing to listen to this kind of songs, that should not be a problem really...
