one of my favourite foods
if you do not like Marmite
put bred in the toast
spread Marmiteon the toast
if you haven't added Marmite
Heat the grill to maximum and put the toast under the grill.

I'd say ' grill the toast, not cook it. To cook is what you do on the hearth, in a pot. You fry in a pan, in the oven, you bake or you grill, if this unction is available.

We 'cook' water and eggs or pasta, we fry steaks and fried eggs, we bake cakes nd pncakes smiley - erm, we roast a chicken , we make a souffleé.

I find it difficult to know when you boil, cook, bake, roast or grill, maybe it's similar for Kat.

Well, I would say to cook things, you need water - so I imagine cooked toast would be fairly disgusting!

I'm not sure..useful eh? I find it very difficult to hold a conversation in German because I don't have the general little bits to join things up you know? All those little 'yeah but...' 'you know' 'the more..' 'when you'

Okay so maybe not specifically just those things, but do you see what I mean? I know the basic things I want to say but spend ages trying to put them together.

I have that problem in French and Spanish... Why not just put them in in English, all of us speak the language more or less... But we could start a kind of guide for handy conversational phrases if that would help you. Everybody, start putting together a list of requests, ideas, or German phrases thast are used often!

A great list!smiley - smiley

May I add my favourite:

Doch. - What you say when someone doubts that what you said is true, and you wish to reply, yes, on the contrary, it is true.

I love irritating expressions.
