der Weihnachtsmarkt ist hier! Jedes Jahr Birmingham hat einen Markt und ich gehe immer. Ich gehe am Samstag und sage, wie es war.
katkodl ist mit "kitch" besessen!!

The Christmas Market is here!! Every year Birmingham has a market and I always go. I'll go on Saturday and say how it was.
Katkodl is obsessed with kitch!!!

Zu Weihnachten ist Kitsch erlaubt! Viel Spaß am Weihnachtsmarkt! Kauf dir ein bisschen Schmuck für dein Zimmer, damit du in Weihnachtsstimmung kommst.
Vielleicht eine kleine Weihnachtsmannfigur, ein goldenes Engerl oder ein silbernes Glöckchen mit einer roten Schleife! Kitsch, Kitsch, Kitsch!!!

At Christmas kitsch is okay! Have fun on the Christmas market! Buy some decoration for your room in order to get into Christmas mood.
Maybe a santa figurine, a small golden angel or a small silvery bell with a red ribbon! Kitsch, kitsch, kitsch!!!

Meine Oma hatte eine goldene Glocke, es war eine Spieluhr. Sie spielte 'stille Nacht'. Dann gab es noch einen rot-goldenen Stern aus Goldpapier, der musste immer über der Tür hängen.


My granny had a golden bell, it was a musical clock. It played ' Silent night'. Then there was a red-golden star made of gold paper, it always had to be above the door.

Ich mag Spieluhren! Es gibt sooo schöne Spieluhren, nicht wahr? Leider habe ich keine. Eine Spieluhr die Weihnachtslieder spielt... da kommt man sicher schön in Weihnachtsstimmung!

I like musical clocks! Some of them are sooo beautiful, aren’t they? Unluckily I don’t have one. A musical clock playing Christmas carols… I’m sure that creates a pretty festive atmosphere!

Sagt man in Österreich :"am" Weihnachtsmarkt ? In Deutschland hieße das, dass man am Rande des Weihnachtsmarktes war, ihn aber nicht betreten hat, das wäre nämlich "auf dem" Weihnachtsmarkt.

Sorry, this is quite impossible to translate, the preposition ( at) Katkodl chose would mean that you haven't entered the market, but just looked at it from it's borders, whereas we in Germany would say "on" - and in English you say neither at nor on, but 'to'

Wir verwenden “am” als Verkürzung von „auf dem“. Wie: „auf dem Dach“ (on the roof) – „am Dach“ (on the roof). Ich wusste nicht, dass das eine österreichische Eigenart ist. Es ist eher ein informeller Ausdruck.


We use „am“ as an abbreviation for „auf dem“. Like: „auf dem Dach“ (on the roof) – „am Dach“ (on the roof). I wasn’t aware that this is an Austrian thing. It’s rather informal style.

ich auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt war und es war sehr schoen. Viele essen! Ich habe nichts gekauft, aber es gibt viele Dinge dass wir in England nicht haben.

I went to the Crimbo market and it was very beautiful. Lots to eat! I didn't buy anything, but there are lots of things that we don't have in England.

Ich war gestern auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt, es war auch sehr schön , besonders das Fischbrötchen und der Glühwein mit Rum


I went to the xmas market last night, and that too, was very nice, especially the fish roll and the mulled wine with rum

Ich glaube ich werde morgen wieder auf einen Weihnachtsmarkt gehen. Ich freu mich schon! Außer Punsch hab ich mir auch noch nichts gekauft. Irgendwie trifft der Kitsch dort nicht so ganz meinen Geschmack. Vielleicht finde ich ja morgen eine schöne Schneekugel! Diese wäre als Geschenk für einen Freund gedacht.

I think I’ll go to another Christmas Market tomorrow. I’m looking forward to do so! So far I haven't bought anything either, apart from punch. The kitsch there kind of isn’t my taste. Maybe I’ll find a pretty snow dome tomorrow! It’s supposed to be a present for a friend.
