*Walks up and stands next to Zomnker, holding the king's torc in his hand. The torc is, er,

Hey, uh, Gord, let me see that please.

*Tries fitting the torch into the crescent shaped depression*

*Part of the wall of the tunnel hinges forward, revealing a rough-hewn stairway, with light at the top! Just inside the opening is another crescent-shaped depression in the rock.*

Cool!

Okay, everyone up the stairs. Zomnker and I will come last and hold off the Gobolds with the rat-ants.

*GL advances down the passageway, putting himself between the salonistas and the sound of running footsteps ahead. He extends the blade on his cane again and waits for the onslaught.*

*Gandalf has calmed down considerably after having managed to get out of the gryphon's runway*

Oh - I'm fine...

*admires the house of cards but gets distracted by the gryphon and Violets catching up with it*

*heads gladly up the stairs, where she finds a small anteroom with three closed doors leading off in different directions*

*a sconce is burning on the stone wall, which shows signs of proper finishwork, and there is a small red carpet on the floor*

*as she steps onto the first tread, she is hit by a blast of cold, clean air*

Well, this must go to the surface, I just hope we don't come out on the other side of the island, or far worse............in the crisper drawer!

What a relief, it isn't the crisper.

*The Gobolds come around the corner and GL starts fighting them. He dispatches one, but two more attack him. He holds them off, but can't finish one of them off without opening himself to the other.*

*Suddenly, something flashes by GL's ear and one of the Gobolds collapses with a knife in his chest.*

*GL finishes the other and retrieves the knife.*

*GL is soon fighting again, slowly backing towards the door.*

*Nods to GL as he gives him back his knife. Takes the torc from the ceiling. Darts into the fighting and takes a coil of rope from one of the Gobold corpses, then falls back behind the other fighters. Uses his knife to pick off any Gobolds that get around the others.*

And that's it for me until Sunday.

*Unsheaths a large knife and jumps into the fray.*

3 doors? It looks like we will have to make a decision. Or maybe open all three at once. Or pull the torch to see if it opens a hidden door. Or look under the carpet for a trap door.

/* Places the one replica of the Statue of Liberty that didn't end up embedded in a gobold in the center of the red carpet */

I think my gun might have an infinite improbability ammo clip.

Do you suppose these are the King's private quarters?

If it is the King's quarters, no wonder he was ill-natured. The ventilation is just de trop, darling....

Um, none of these doors have handles or knobs.

*The gryphon finally finds a nice upward draft that lifts him a few feet into the air. The gryphon picks up a stone and hurls it at Violets*

There must be another hidden latch like there is at the foot of the stairs.

*starts pressing bricks inthe hopes that one might open a door*

I was always hopeless at these sort of games. The only way I finally completed Myst and Riven was to lurk on messageboards
