Today is World Meteorological Day

Does this mean that we can all talk endlessly about the weather? Probably not, although it does seem to be a very popular topic of conversation throughout the world. Another subject on most people's lips is whether there has been life on Mars. It is a pretty sure fact that there can't be any there now but the discovery, by NASA scientists, of the likelihood of salt water and possibly a sea do renew the question as to the presence of living matter at some time in the past. What form this life may have taken, however, is still a matter for conjecture.

The weather affects us so much that, mostly for the convenience of farmers I believe, many countries around the world indulge in a little time tampering. Certainly the UK and most of Europe will be losing an hour early on Sunday morning as the clocks go forward. You better all start reading this edition of The Post right away!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
