This Thursday marks the 99th anniversary of one of the greatest and most
prophetic science fiction writers of all time. A man obsessed with research
who produced some brilliant work.

Jules Gabriel Verne (1828-1905)

French born into sea-faring family.

Runaway cabin boy; later studied law.

Publication of first play his paternal allowance ceased.

Studied geology, engineering and astronomy himself.

Then wrote well-researched novels covering these subjects.

Many predictions were based on theories of his day.

Some proved uncannily accurate.
