Love is One
Love is love to say the least.
Skilful lines make us feel good.
How do you describe the colour of sunset?
How do I spell my first feelings of being in love?
Watch a good movie: Roman Holiday, Casablanca, Apur Sansar.
A cup of coffee to go with it.
A broken heart to be with it.
Would you compare this to a summers day?
Flutter of wings, a burning sun.
Fall of Icarus , a silent sigh.
Epic tales of conquesting passions.
Ethereal couplets to crown the moments.
All for love, all for one.
Plants breathe, flowers pollinate.
Ponds full of white lilies, stars brighten music.
To be with ONE, to be someone.
To be with you, to be with ONE.
The poet and the muse.
ONE for all, all for ONE.
When our love is ONE, we live as ONE.
This is a simple poem about love and the complexity of emotions it carry. Little
bit modern in its tone with references to classic Hollywood movies like 'Casablanca' and
'Roman Holiday. But then the mood changes swiftly with mention of Brughel's 'Icarus'
considered an archetypal image of Elizabethan Age. Also re-questioning the purpose of
Shakespearean sonnets and the binary between love/time. The end is reminiscent of John Donne's
'Ecstasy' mingling the metaphysical with the ho-hum of mundane existence. The fusion of the 2 souls
of the lovers and forming a new entity so distinct and unique: 'we live as ONE'. The poet and the
muse, the writer and the reader. Of course the 2 lovers in question.
