week 39
week 40 Having worked out how to adjust scales to read kilos rather than stones and pounds I may change to kgs. I had to work it out to weigh the luggage, as first time at the airport we were incorrectly stung for an overweight item (20kg allowance, with £6/kg fee if over allowance).
Anyway on the Sunday morning after flights the previous day I was shocked to find myself 4.5 pounds over target weight (5.5 more than last weigh-in) - I was only away just over a week (though I did have chicken wings and creme brulees on several occasions and a few buffet breakfasts involving bacon and pancakes, pastries and plenty of
), and I was fairly active. Fortunately on my weigh-in day, this morning, this gain has reduced to a more acceptable one pound over.
I was reassured that it is common to retain weight a while after beign on a long-haul flight.
So 2 pounds up, 13 pounds lost since start.

I'm starting to get frustrated. No progress for a very long time. I need to focus on it more. At least I know what the problem is, so I know ~what~ to do to correct it. It's finding the will to do it.
Witty, how are you doing? Still going down?
The important thing is that JUDDDD really works when you do it correctly. Now I just have to do that. *hanging head in shame*

I was doing fine maintaining up until about 2 weeks ago. I've creeped up about 3 pounds, but I am also having some trouble getting back in the saddle. I am doing my best to reach containment, I am hopeful that warm weather and fresh air will reinspire me. I've had some tough things to deal with lately and it is just a matter of getting everything back in perspective. I will prevail!

week 41
I'm sure we can all get a grip on continuing to JUDDDer Evenings and weekends continue to be my downfall
Up another half pound on last week, so this morning at only 12.5 pounds lost (I find I have a better feel for my weight in stones and pounds than kgs), but I am convinced that is mostly due to wwg, as I was doing fairly well during the week.

week 42 (42!) Safely below the target weight again 15 pounds lost, down 2.5 pounds on last week's weigh -in
Not sure I'm going to bother to Juddder the next two weeks - get-in week this week and then the performances for Disco Inferno.
The wardrobe mistress was getting a bit of grief from the director because the costumes weren't fitting several of the cast. It wasn't her fault - a surprising number of the cast have lost sufficient weight to affect the measurements she made a few months ago.
I'm going to have to get around to buying better fitting trousers and jacket sometime - the jacket hangs a bit loose, and the trousers need cinching in so much they also don't look good.

That's a great reason to have to replace clothing -- much petter than the "I'm either going to have to buy new clothes or a shoe-horn to get into the old ones!"

Instead of being the little engine that could, I am the little snail that can...I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
SC, buying new clothes is one of the main reasons for losing weight. I love buying new clothes, especially in a smaller size.
Congrats Pimms! Slow and steady wins the race.
Witty, did you make Dr. Johnson's book?
Calling all JUDDDDers
Witty Moniker Posted Apr 16, 2008
"Make the book"? I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean the interview I had, that is for an article for a women's magazine. It will promote the book. I hadn't heard from the publicity company for a while, but by coincidence, they emailed me today for a little more information. It is still in the works.
The contact asked me if I bought the book yet! I figure Dr Johnson should send me one if I am quoted for the article.

I can't do it! I can't do JUDDDD. I can, however, do low carb/no carb.
It works for me when I follow it. Right now I can't figure out how much I weigh. I weighed Monday. I weighed today. Today I weigh five pounds less than I did Monday.
Monday I couldn't wear pants I had worn two weeks before. Today I can.

Lady C, sounds like you've borrowed part of my week...
I weighed 4 pounds more last Friday than I did the Monday before that -- had to take my baseball bat of a water pill, and dropped about 6 pounds by Sunday. What a way to do it, though; couldn't stand or turn without almost blacking out! NOT my favorite med.
Mmmm, shopping -- I remember that. Right now, I'm having to switch to some holey jeans when I get back from interviews; Rocket the wicked little rascal has kneaded holes in the left thighs of most of my pants...and I can't afford to let him get my work ones!

Hyp keeps telling me carbs are evil and that I probably bloated from eating them. I did much better this past week and I can wear my green capris again. Yea!

Lady Chattingly Posted Apr 20, 2008
Bloating is also a product of old age, I fear. Rather than disgust everyone here, let's just leave it......
I do feel better when I eat more veggies and less carbs though.

[week 43 JUDDDering in abeyance up a bit to a pound above target (2lbs up), 13 pounds lost - I do look good in my shiny black flares, glittery black shirt and b&w leopard skin print jacket, though the fuschia neckscarf and hairsprayed wig are a *touch* camp

week 44, back on the straight and narrow (not just the trousers).
Have a bit to lose - weighed in after the show and get out at 11.5 pounds down, a pound and a half up on last week. I bet some is wwg, as I ate well on get-out day, as I figured I had worked hard and deserved it. Joints aching a bit as a result of all the lifting.

week 45 - I've realised it is approaching a year JUDDDering
delayed posting the weight on Bank Holiday monday. Had a chinese takeaway on Saturday and am convinced it had a retaining effect on weight, as Saturday morning I was 5.5 lbs lighter than on Sunday morning I went from 2lbs below original target to 2.5 lbs above. On Monday this hadn't changed, but now (on Wednesday, after an up day) I am back to target weight
Someone suggested MSG in chinese food has this effect. Haven't had a chance to search for corroboration yet.

Witty Moniker Posted May 7, 2008
I had Chinese food this past weekend, and I can corroborate your experience. I was up 3.5 pounds as a result. I didn't even eat 3.5 pounds of food that day.

Pimms Posted May 7, 2008
I *certainly* didn't eat 5.5 lbs of food - that would be a chinese banquet and a half. I tend to drink a large amount of chinese tea though.
So a useful tip for persons wanting to start a diet with an impressive weight loss might be to either go on a long-haul flight or have an MSG heavy meal the day before their initial weigh-in, and just watch the pound drop off in the following week.

You may wish to see whether the following site strikes a chord: http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/index.html
Apparently I am not a carb addict according to their quick quiz
Anyway one of the FAQs relates to temporary water retention as a result of MSG consumption, and associated permanent weight gain due to succumbing to unneccessary feelings of hunger caused by MSG and pigging out.
