Ok, I think I have a sensible schedule worked out. I will do regular every other day in June, since I am having problems with inflammation again. Then in July I will switch to a system I worked out that should let me lose 2-3 pounds a month without being nearly as restrictive.

The schedule will stay the same every week, which makes planning easier. Tuesday and Friday will be 500 calorie down days. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday will be up days of 2000 calories or less. And Sunday and Thursday will be intermediate level down days of 1200 calories or less.
Then whenever the inflammation flares up, if it does, I'll go back to every other day for a couple of weeks.

That works out to a maximum of 9400 calories a week, which will give me a deficit of around 2500 calories a week. Every other day gives me 8750 calories a week. So that isn't a huge difference and seems a lot more liveable.

I must've just been bloated last week (or else my first really down down day yesterday *really* made a huge difference) because I lost 4.7 pounds and 2.5 inches around my waistsmiley - wow

Typo--3.7, not 4.7, but still...

That's a great result, Amy. Yay!

I'm finding it a LOT easier to stay on track (so far--it's only been a week) recording everything. I like using Loseit, because I'd never actually taken calories out into consideration before. Plus, with the app, I can scan barcodes of things much faster than typing food names in.

I have never used an online tracking site other than the weight watchers one a long time ago. It was cumbersome to use and I really disliked it. Maybe they have improved it over the years. I use a notebook and a pencil. I'm glad that you and Witty have found something that works for you. Being comfortable with whatever method you use is important. Otherwise you'll chuck it.

So I came back from the trip to Manchester last week up two pounds. I didn't try to follow JUDDDD or intentionally exercise. However, I did a lot of purposeful walking.

After a week back on the plan, I lost that 2 plus another .7 pounds. I'm satisfied with that. smiley - smiley

Yay, Witty. It really does work. That's the beauty of it.

We're camping, so I didn't weigh myself yesterday (even though we did go home for a few hours for a birthday party that ended up not happening). However, the shorts I'm wearing right now, that I washed yesterday, fit better than when I packed them Sunday--and that's *with* my cycle startimg yesterday. I have to admit that tje shorts are cut offs made from stretch jeans, and there's a little bit of muffin-topping, but not much.

I go back and forth over weighing versus not weighing. There are things to be said for both approaches. Currently I am weighing on the first up day following a down day of each month. Since I am a slow loser, that seems less frustrating for me.

I lost 3 pounds in June. Not bad considering. Better than gaining 3.

Hey, that's great! Good on ya!

June was a slow losing month for me, what with the trip to Manchester. But I still lost some.

How y'all doing? Despite carefully adhering to recommended calories both eaten and burned with exercise that should deliver a loss of 2 pounds per week, I find I'm only averaging one pound per week.

But I'm losing, so I'm not complaining. Just mystified.

I've been 5:2ing more or less for 18 months now. About 2 pounds away from my target weight, though I'm hovering just under a bmi of 25, which is nice.

As of last week, I've lost 18.4 pounds since I started using Lose It to track, around the end of May.

Amy, have you tried any of the Lose It challenges?

I've done a few, ones that I know I can master while staying within my current plan. I've found that they do help motivate me if I'm tempted to skip a workout or overeat.

Yep--I've been doing various "post for X days" ones, and I'm just past the midpoint of a "drink 64 oz of water a day for 90 days" one. The first morning after the first day, I noticed that my ankles weren't puffy any more, and my weight loss accelerated once I was actually hydrating (with the usual monthly caveat, of course). Once the challenge is over, I'm going to keep up the hydration, but may actually get to drink other things again! I like plain water fine, but I like tea, too, and I can't drink *that* much water in a day if I'm drinking anything elsesmiley - laugh
