" And would you actually greet any new researchers that way or just post a message to hundreds of nice and clean empty forums coincidentally dangling on the Personal Spaces of new Researchers?
Do not bother about me, I am just ranting . . . . "

You do have to admit that it is difficult to do individual greetings when there are so many.....I used to change the odd thing here and there, but not that much

I think the problem with cut and paste jobs (I do it!) is that because so few ACEs have been working on the welcomes in recent times, if a newbie wanders over to their ACE's page and look at the welcome messages (I'm sure I'm not the only one who does ACEing in 'blocks' ) on their User Space, it probably does lead to the newbie thinking 'hmm, some personal welcome that was'. Back in t'day, that wasn't a problem as the lists were kept on top of. But hey ho - there's only so many times you can jiggle the words of a welcome about

These copy & paste jobs, no harm in having two or three pre-set messages (that have text in them ) to hand out is there?

"What a nice empty space you've got..."
"Oh, that's a nice empty space you've got there..."
"Cool, an empty space!!! I've always loved minimalism..."
I'm just being ...
But, I'm a bit fed up welcoming lots of people with empty spaces...
What happened to the idea of the newbies answering a few questions when registering so that their spaces would have something about them on it from the start?!... and and and [I didn't dream _that_ one did I?!]

No you didn't dream that one. It was one of mine in a suggestion thread here. It seems it was either ignored or regarded as too difficult or not appropriate to implement. I don't think there was ever an official statement on it.
