There's one thing that could account for the new users - publicity. We hardly ever get a major push, but since Tuesday we've had two bbc.co.uk homepage promotions (with more to come), one very healthy promotion on BBC Radio Scotland plus additional links from Cult, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Arts.
I don't think 500 is all that surprising, taking these into account. In fact, I think it's great 
(Oh, and Beth has been telling all of her friends about it too!)

New blood may be what this site needs. But could I suggest a comment on the ACEforum? Not all ACE's are subscribed to this convo and may not be aware in the increase in "demand" as it were on their time and resources.
