Hi Emmily......
It can get a little depressing reading all these conversations going over the same ground over and over again, BUT...I do have to say that this is the first conversation I've seen in a while with some constructive comments as to how to solve certain problems.
Hopefully *crosses fingers* something can be done about the situation soon which would mean an easier life for ALL ACE's........*uncrosses fingers*

Hi Vicki
The last conversation thread like this one, and the one before that and several times in aceforum, has had a lot of constructive suggestions...well, one basic suggestion repeated in all of them, that will greatly help the situation...
Give willing ex ACEs such as yourself, Mort and Intern theit shining orange badges back...
Recruit new ACEs...(maybe use the 'buddy' system)...there was a damn good reason why Abi regulary recruited new ACEs...she knew what she was doing...and why...there has been none at all recruited since Abi left...it's not as if it takes up a lot of Italics time...we do most of the 'work'...all the Italics have to do...is trust in our opinions...hand out the badges and ...

I do have to admit that there has been little feedback from the Italics. It does appear though that they have realised that there is a little bit too much work for 2 full time members of staff to deal with...with Paully being made full time and permanent and Beth now being brought in (hmmm...I wonder if we make a big enough fuss we can make her permament too )
I've put myself forward to have my ACE badge given back, and I think Intern has done the same, but they're not recruiting at the moment so I think we need to wait our turn.

Just what we need, willing ACEs back on the scheme
To answer TiT's posting, I use a cut and paste greeting which for me means I'm not typing the same thing out over and over again (and let's be honest, most of us do have a template we cut, paste and jig about to suit the newbie we're welcoming) and with so many newbies being welcomed for someone whose day job is an audio typist it's a godsend to be able to do that
And yes, I haven't been going back and checking every newbie to make sure an ACE has visited their space, but I've been too busy trying to clear the list of new users who haven't had anyone post to them

To stop "Going round in circles" try asking in the right place, but first know what it is you want... So if it takes a couple of weeks to give chance to any objections; so it takes a couple of weeks.
Do you all want a "***" indicator of ACE (and GA) welcomed newbies in the <./>NewUsers</.> list?

Very true Intern, but I also agree that some sort of indication on the New Users page that a newbie has been ACEd is also important

Could be 1653 if getting to U896114 first... I get the feeling they see h2g2 as a chat site with their "ASL" and posting just "Hi" in a thread.

That won't last long; I've seen their like before
I'm intruiged (sp?) by that stats list. Admittedly though, I thought there'd be more newbies un-ACEd than there is. However, I'll do some of those tonight

I'm wondering if there is a problem here....there's over 500 newbies on this list in 2 days.
Do you think the separation of "only those of this site" has gone wrong? It's ever such a large amount!

They might be joining so they can save their games on the hitchhikers adventure game...

I can do a few more before getting ready to go to work but err 500?!...
It's going to take a lot of ACEs to clear _that_ one...
