Aroma Forest Sing Along!
Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Apr 24, 2000
Yes, and believe it or not, I started singing it on here before it was on the front page this morning!

I've always thought the lyrics to this are too weird
Here, have a cup *pours a glass of metallic hydrogen from his insulated jug. Hands cup to Irv*
Sorry, no hydroxium today
Anyone else want one?

Actually, the American Pie entry was on the 'New Entries Today' list and my homepage on Friday.
But I don't like the song. Is boring, and too civilised.

Well, I didn't see it then. But I quite like the song because, as I've mentioned elswhere, I'm a word person.

In fact, as I've just mentioned it a total of THREE TIMES I think it's time I shut up on the subject

Just think about poor me, who can't go two forums without mentioning the I words. Or the H word.

American Pie is loooong...makes me think of my early childhood, which is funny, because my early childhood occured during the 80s.

Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Apr 24, 2000
It makes me think of my mid childhood, which took place in the very early '90s.

Hey everyone, I'm a saint! Like Lil!
Any of you heard Cream's live rendition of Spoonful? I think the one I got, on History Of Eric Clapton (taken from Live Cream) is nearly 20 minutes long.
There's a song called Jerusalem which is 55 minutes long.
Tubular Bells @ 25 minutes.
And of course Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Sign Of The Cross and The Clansmen. 14, 12 and 9 minutes long respctively. By Iron Maiden.

Are we just talking long songs? 'Cause I've heard that the live version of In A Gadda Da Vitta (Iron Butterfly) is half an hour long. And the song only has one verse!

Mike -
I think my mother, who has far better taste in music than I, has that Cream CD.
Oh, do you realise "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is a giant poem by Coleridge?
Maybe you inspired em, Irv.
"Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream on. Dream on..."

I happened on a site that gave the meaning to the lyrics of American Pie (or at least the meaning that the site author attributes to them). I always knew they had something to do with the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Big Bopper and Richie Valens, but I didn't know that the name of the plane was "Miss American Pie". Not sure if that is true, or whether that is a speculation on the part of the site author. Here's the URL

Actually, here's a better site (just did another search - the first site seems to be derrived from this one)
