My hubbie just wandered into the kitchen and spotted the view and when I tried explaining to him what was going on and it was an h2g2 thing, he gave me one of his "Your completely round the bend" looks!

I get the same kind of reaction here. My guy has no sense of imagination. I feel sorry for him. On the other hand, I enjoy the time I spend here even more.

Yes, Coely, you can do it. And I have another $1000 (Canadian) just to prove it. (Maybe we"ll need two floors for the celebration party?)

Glad you could make it! I've been looking out of this window throughout the day. At about noon EST the falls were quite spectacular, and there was quite a crowd. (US and Canadian friends - is this the same every day?)
It seems much quieter now, so a good time for the jump I think. Gwennie - perhaps hubby is missing the socks (which the hotel reception have put in the safe for collection later).
alicat - if your guy has no imagination, is it THE Peter Gabriel or just A Peter Gabriel then? (begins to suspect something fishy, and checks the date again).
Two floors and two weeks here I think. We all sound like a holiday is much needed. First though I'm off to find the best place to start the jump. Get the drinks in!

I've had a look, and the Rainbow Bridge seems a good starting point.

THE Peter Gabriel has an imagination that would put mine to shame. He is the one I will always wait for.
Everyday at the Falls there are thousands of people of all nations. The Canadians and Americans share this wonder (the bigger, curved Horseshoe Falls is ours, though. That's the one you want to swimm. The water is much cleaner. )
I think two floors for two weeks sounds splendid. Great choice of location. I think my whole life has been preparation for this.
Thank you, Coely, I will never forget this day.

*Quite overcome with emotion, coelacanth slowly swims over to the Rainbow Bridge, then turns and waves all fins at the 20th floor balcony.*
*The cleaner, and also not quite so high Horseshoe Falls are ahead......*

*As the night draws in, lights start to go on around the Falls. Coelacanth begins to rock back and forth in preparation for the swim and the jump....*

*holding breath in anticipation. Every fibre of alicat's being is focused on Coely, and her tremendous attempt. She is trying, vicariously, to experience the exhilaration that Coely is experiencing.*

*Coelacanth calls out to everyone*
It's so pretty!

*At first slowly, and then faster and faster, coelacanth's well tuned fins work hard. The swim begins...*

*With mounting excitement Mari-rae starts chanting:*

GO YOU OLD FISH; GO!!!!!!!!!

*Abruptly realizes that she has bet against Coely making it*

Ooops!(disgusted with self while proud of Coelacanth for trying this)

*Whilst swimming, remembers that all this was Mari-rae's idea, and silently thanks her (forgetting the AGAINST page in the betting book).*

*Swims as fast as is possible to take the bend in the river at top speed.*

*All eyes are focused on Coely. As if with no effort, she battles the deluge of water, climbing higher and higher. She is magnificent. Her fins move in unison, with determination.* GO, COELY, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

*With one mighty leap of at least 170 feet, it seems almost as if coelacanth is flying through the air. The cold water trying to push down means nothing. This jump reaches the top of the falls with ease!

Coelacanth pauses and realises that all the training was worth it, just for this moment. Waves all fins at the crowds above, and swims around the top of the falls for a while.
Someone throws a UK flag into the water, which coelacanth drapes over all the fins.
Mari-rae is waving something. It's her BEST TOWEL!*

*tears welling in her eyes, alicat screams herself hoarse* Oh my God, Coely. You were magnificent. Come ashore and let's party like there's no tomorrow. *the coloured lights sheen off the ancient fish's scales, producing a million rainbows.*

*An exhausted coelacanth swims over to alicat and gives her a big hug*
Whoops, I've made you all wet! Here, take Mari-rae's towel.
*Whispers* I'll be busy for a while
