A Conversation for FANTASY FOOTBALL - Season IX - "The Latin One"
WEEK SEVENTEEN
Number Six Posted Apr 24, 2004
Everton 2 Blackburn 1 (Radzinski)
Leicester 1 Man City 1 (Anelka)
Manchester United 3 Liverpool 1 (van Nistelrooy)
Wigan 1 Sunderland 1 (Ellington)
Argyle 1 QPR 1 (Friio)
I know I'm 11 minutes late, but I had a last-minute existential crisis deciding not to bet £91 on QPR to win Division Two as insurance. I'm trying to hold my nerve instead.

Well, it's a big from me to Jonathan Stead of Blackburn, whose goal is all that has saved me from a
.
But I think this could be a remarkably low-scoring week...

we made a little bet about who would finish higher in their respective divisions out of Everton and Scunthorpe.
It was a £5 bet, and I very pesimistically paid up in november, when we were down in (or at least near) the drop zone, while they were in the playoff places. He did agree to pay me back and pay up his money, if it turned out t'other way round.
Now, I hadn't been following division three, and had been assuming Sscunthorpe were muddling along mid-table. Well, a Cralsile fan on 606 started talking about their hopes of catching Scunthorpe, Rochdale or Macclesfield. So I check the table- Scunthorpe 20th! I'd have to be a Wolves fan not to win the bet if they stay there! Admittedly they could still contrive to finish higher than the blues, but I doubt it.

Well, if you like, but I reckon it'll teach you to mix your drinks
A particular 'well done' to anyone who predicted 'Trigger' Evans to score the first goal - as an Argyle fan, I'd hesitate to predict him scoring at all, never mind first Oh, and Desky - Cocko hasn't scored an own goal in all his time with us, as far as I know... the man's a rock

Not bothered about the fries, but I would quite like the second point I'm due owing to young Mr Stead being the first (and, indeed, only) scorer in the Everton v Blackburn game.
Come on - I think it's still my worst week ever...

Evans was picked on a perusal of the match reports on BBC which regularly mentioned him having shots that other people converted, or having shots saved. (I thought I'd better do a bit more research this week)
(And £91 saved for N0.6 on his bet)
Anyone know the last person to score against Manchester Utd from the penalty spot at Old Trafford ?

Well well well... blind faith in my own team finally works ... and a penalty at Old Trafford and all... who'd have thought it?
Was Ruel Fox playing for Norwich or Newcastle at the time?

Er...yes.
I think it was Newcastle, but I'll see if I can find out.

Hmm. He joined Newcastle from Norwich in Feb 94, so if he scored after then, Newcastle. if before, norwich.
So i'm now thinking 'twas Norwich.
